The 300 young musicians, members of the Municipal Band of Zarcero Canton, are ready to represent the country in the 2024 Rose Parade to be held in Pasadena, California, USA.
On Monday, Jan. 1, the band will march approximately halfway through the entire parade, featuring Costa Rican culture, music and traditions inspired by the indigenous Boruca people and with the slogan "Colors and Rhythm in Music."
In Costa
Rica, the parade will be televised live
on Jan. 1 at 10 a.m. on local channels
6, 7 and 13.
The majority of the band members are from Zarcero Canton, a 4,000-person hamlet in Alajuela Province.
Before the
major event in Pasadena, the ban will
march in the Disneyland Theme Park
Parade in California this afternoon, on
Thursday, December 28.
This is not the first international presentation made by the band. In 2019, they participated in the Bands Fest in California, in the Disneyland Park Parade and the Rose Parade in Pasadena. In 2020, they participated again in the California Rose Parade.
In 2013 and 2017, the band was at the Parade of Central American Bands in Panamá.
Also in 2017, the young musicians were at the Central American Parade in Los Angeles, California.
In 2018, they presented at the Giulianova International Festival in Italy.
This year is celebrated the 135th Rose Parade with the motto “Celebrating the World of Music: The Universal Language.” Organizers announced the first-ever livestream, which will be carried, in its entirety, by four streaming services, including Fubo TV, Christmas Plus, Pluto TV and LocalNow. The new livestream will allow more people to access the show and feature each of the 85 show units that will journey down the 5 ˝-mile Parade route. The stream will be available through January 14, 2024. The two-hour extravaganza, which will feature stunning floral floats, high-stepping equestrian units and spirited marching bands, will be hosted by Jericka Duncan of CBS Weekend News, actress Gabrielle Elyse and TikTok sensation Pressley Hosbach. Since its inception in 1890, the Rose Parade has been a dazzling showcase of creativity, symbolism and spectacular storytelling that is sure to be embraced by millions of streetside, broadcast and streaming viewers from across the country and around the world. The parade starts at 8 a.m. PST, with floats, marching bands and equestrian units of the 135th Rose Parade presented by Honda. ---------------
