Costa Rica was chosen as the most wanted country by travelers for the second year in a row by the British magazine Wanderlust Travel, the Tourism Institute announced.
The Windsor, Berkshire-based Wanderlust Travel, is a British monthly travel magazine covering tourism. They placed Costa Rica at the top of the list of annual awards for the category: "Most Desirable Country (Long Haul) 2023."
The country was awarded after receiving high qualification from a panel of professional judges and magazine readers' votes.
“Winning this award and being recognized by hundreds of passionate travelers and readers of Wanderlust is an incredible achievement,” said William Rodríguez, Minister of Tourism who traveled to UK receive the award on behalf of the country.
As of Sept., Costa Rica has reached over 1.8 million tourists. Of these, over 49,000 British tourists have visited Costa Rica. The statistics show that each British tourist had an average expense of $133 per day with a stay of close to 15 nights.
Last year, about 2.3 million tourists visited the country. That is one million more visitors than in 2021.
