Brisa
Hennessy (24), a tica surfer from Matapalo
Cape, Osa Peninsula, Puntarenas Province,
has advanced to the 2024 Paris Olympics
Games semi-finals.
Hennessy
defeated Luana Silva of Portugal in the
women's round quarterfinals on Thursday with
a combined score of 6.37. Silva was
eliminated with a score of 5.47.
The
match was held at 8 p.m. Costa Rican time on
Teahupoʻo Beach, located on the southeastern
coast of the island of Tahiti in French
Polynesia.
Brisa's
next challenge will take place on Saturday,
August 3, at noon Costa Rican time, at the
same beach.
Paris
Games were Hennessy's second Olympics participation, after
finishing fifth in Tokyo 2020.
The
Costa Rica team for the Paris Olympics is
made up of six athletes, including
Hennessy.
Two additional Ticos athletes have a chance
to win a medal.
Milagro
Mena will take part in the road cycling
match on Sunday, August 4th, at 6 a.m. Mena
(31) will run 158 km through the streets of
Paris. This will be her second Olympic
appearance, having competed in Rio 2016.
Gerald
Drummond is the final Tico to compete. On
Monday, August 5, at 2 a.m., he will take
part in the 400-meter hurdles in his second
Olympics. He competed in Tokyo 2020 but was
eliminated in the first round.
