"Additionally, the country enjoys a privileged position within the Americas, which allows Costa Rica to adapt to the various North and South American time zones, with minimal variations." According to Restrepo, the infrastructure and technology in Costa Rica provide great stability for the growth of large companies. Services sector companies are a source of employment for the young professionals who graduate from our public and private universities. The average age of workers in this sector is 30 years old and it is estimated that 85% are graduates of public schools, said the Costa Rican Investment Promotion Agency, CINDE. GEP company was founded in 1999, now counts 21 branches in 5 continents. In Latin America, offices are located in Mexico, Costa Rica, and Brazil. The company consists of more than 3,500 employees providing services in 23 different languages. In Costa Rica, the Delivery Center attends clients located in the U.S. This is the second U.S. company announcing open vacancies in less than a month. ![]() On September 24, Nashville, Tennessee-based SmileDirectClub, announced the opening of 200 vacancies at its Costa Rica branch. According to the company, many of the job options are for people living outside the Greater Metropolitan Area, GAM. This area is made up of cities in the outskirts of San José such as Alajuela, Heredia and Cartago. SmileDirectClub dental aligners are designed in Costa Rica and exported to the United States, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Hong Kong, Ireland, Germany, Austria, Singapore, and the United Kingdom. The company also develops service support activities on a global level from Costa Rica. “This expansion was possible thanks to our growth in the countries where we serve our clients and the success we have had in Costa Rica, where we have found the ideal conditions for our continued growth," Cristina Jiménez, General Manager of SmileDirectClub Costa Rica said. "Costa Rican talent has the necessary technical skills to continually improve our product, while simultaneously having the soft skills that equip our team with the talent and effectiveness needed to continue developing Smile culture." In these unprecedented times, the company continues to rely on the capabilities of Costa Rica’s national talent, and on its formation of a Global Business Service Center in the areas of Finance, Technology and Procurement. The company’s team members are equipped to work from home and from areas outside the GAM, SmileDirectClub said in its statement. SmileDirectClub will hire professionals in the areas of financial analysis, customer service, information technology, marketing, human resources, dentistry, and orthodontics. Professionals are required to have an advanced-intermediate or B2+ level of English. The company will offer permanent remote-working positions, which is why they are looking for talent outside the GAM to fill these positions. People interested to apply for a vacancy should visit the career options section on the SmileDirectClub website. As these new companies expand in the country, unemployment is one of the most critical issues in the country. According to the Employment Survey, from June to August, of the National Institute of Statistics and Census, the unemployment rate was at 23.2%, meaning the unemployed population reached 544,000 people. ---------------------- What have you heard about people looking for a job in your community?
