That is the
question that the winner of the
life-changing $1.3 billion Powerball® jackpot
ticket sold on Saturday in Oregon, USA,
may be thinking about.
The
Powerball tickets are available for
purchase for those living in the U.S. on
its website.
The lucky ticket matches all six Powerball numbers 22, 27, 44, 52 and 69. and the red Powerball 9. The Power Play multiplier was 3X.
According to the Oregon Lottery, the billion jackpot was sold in the Plaid Pantry shop in Portland. That store will receive a bonus of $100,000 for selling the jackpot winner.
Additionally, the lottery authorities are working with a ticket holder who came forward on Monday to claim the prize. "The process involves security measures and vetting that will take time before a winner can be announced," they said.
“This is an unprecedented jackpot win for Oregon Lottery,” said Mike Wells, Oregon Lottery Director. “We're taking every precaution to verify the winner before awarding the prize money, which will take time.”
This was the fourth-largest Powerball jackpot in history and the eighth-largest among U.S. jackpot games, the lottery company added.
Currently,
the Powerball jackpot has rolled to
$46 million for the next drawing on
Saturday, April 12. There is the
choice of a lump sum payment estimated
at $21.5 million. Powerball drawings are broadcast live at 11 p.m. ET from the State of Florida Lottery draw studio in Tallahassee. Drawings are also available on Powerball.com.
The Powerball jackpot grows until it is won. Players win a prize by matching one of the 9 ways to win. The jackpot is won by matching all five white balls in any order and the red Powerball. Powerball costs about $2 per play. To play, people should select five numbers between 1 and 69 for the white balls, then select one number between 1 and 26 for the red Powerball. People can choose the numbers on a play slip or let the lottery terminal randomly pick the numbers. Jackpot winners may choose to receive their prize as an annuity, paid in 30 graduated payments over 29 years, or a lump-sum payment. Both advertised prize options are before federal and jurisdictional taxes.
Another big drawing for this week is Mega Millions®, which robust sales have pushed the jackpot even higher, with an estimated $125 million, with the cash option of $57.3 million, for tonight's drawing on Friday, April 12, announced the lottery company in its statement.
Mega Millions tickets are available for purchase on the lottery website for those living in the U.S.
The jackpot
keeps growing after no ticket matched all
six numbers drawn on Tuesday, April 9,
with the white balls 34, 43, 51, 52 and
69. Plus the gold Mega Ball 25 and the
Mega Plier 4X.
