United Airlines, one of the largest airlines in the United States, has boosted flights from six different states to Juan Santamarķa International Airport (SJO) in Alajuela Province.

"The increase in frequencies and destinations to the major cities in the United States allows us to provide our customers with a diverse network of travel options," said Carlos Granados, United Airlines Country Sales Manager.

The airline has 48 nonstop flights to six airports in the United States, including:

  • There are two flights every week to Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) in California.

  • One flight each week to Chicago O'Hare International Airport (ORD).

  •  Two flights every week to Denver International Airport (DEN) in Colorado.

  • There is one weekly flight to Virginia's Washington Dulles International Airport (IAD).

  • There are 21 weekly flights to George Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH) in Houston, Texas.

  • There are also 21 weekly flights to New York's John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK).

Additional information about the new flight schedules can be found on the airline's website.

United Airlines is one of several international airlines that are boosting their frequency of flights to Costa Rica. Last week, British Airways launched new non-stop flights between SJO and London Gatwick International Airport (LGW) in the United Kingdom.

According to the Tourism Institute's statistics, the United States is the leading source of tourists. As of October, over a million U.S. tourists arrived via flight.

Last year, about 2.3 million tourists visited Costa Rica. That is one million more visitors than in 2021.
