The
Illinois, United States-
headquartered luxury travel company,
Abercrombie & Kent, has set its
sights on Costa Rica with the
opening of a new Destination
Management Company (DMC). According
to Martin Froggatt, Chief
Destination Officer at A&K
Travel Group, establishing its own
DMC in the country will help the
company deliver the same level of
service it offers globally with
travel experiences that showcase the
essence of each destination. “Costa
Rica consistently ranks as a top
seller among our Central American
destinations. It made perfect sense
to set up operations here,” Froggatt
said. “Now, we’re ready and
enthusiastic to design outstanding
travel experiences that deeply
connect visitors to the distinct
features of this remarkable
destination.” A&K
operates the world’s largest network
of DMCs, with over 55 offices in
more than 30 countries. The company
partners with other travel
companies, tour operators and cruise
lines.
A&K
DMCs also work with travel
advisors on a business-to-business
basis to deliver seamless service
from arrival to departure for
guests on tailor-made itineraries. The
firm is actively hiring for its
departments of Travel Consultants,
Accountant Reservations and
Systems Administration among
others. Interested
candidates should visit the
company careers website. A&K
is one of many U.S. firms
investing in Costa Rica. Last
week, the Houston,
Texas-headquartered Sysco, a
global food service distribution
company, announced the expansion
of its Global Support Center in
Heredia Province. Even
though new businesses are creating
jobs, the unemployment rate
remains at 10%, according to the
National Employment Survey. Data
recorded from March to May 2023,
shows that there are more than
233,000 people without registered
jobs. Of these, 119,000 are women,
making up 51% of the unemployed
people in the country.
