The
U.S. Under-17 Men’s National Soccer Team
kicked off the 2025 Concacaf U-17
Qualifiers with a dominant 22-0 victory
against the U.S. Virgin Islands, in the
match that was held at the
National Stadium, in
San José on Monday.
According
to the U.S. Soccer Federation, the margin
of victory marked the most goals ever
scored by a U.S. team in World Cup
Qualifying at any level, while forward
player Chase Adams’ 10 goals set a record
for most goals by any U.S. Soccer player
in a World Cup qualifying match at any
level.
Captain
Maximo Carrizo added another
four goals, while forward Chance Cowell
and midfielder Jude Terry also bagged
braces.
Following
the first matchday, the USA sits atop
Group F with three points and a +22 goal
differential. Cuba came from behind to
defeat St. Kitts and Nevis, 3-1, in the
first game of the day.
The U.S. next faces St. Kitts on Wednesday, Feb. 12 at 8 p.m. ET or 7 P.m. Costa Rican time also to be held at National Stadium.
The
winner of each of the eight qualifying
groups advance to the expanded 48-team
FIFA U-17 World Cup which will take
place in Qatar from 5 to 27 November,
2025. The
newly expanded U-17 World Cup will
feature 48 teams in Qatar and eight
group winners from across Concacaf
will qualify for the tournament. The
U.S. is aiming for a record 19th
appearance on the world stage. All
tournament matches will be broadcast
in English on Fox Sports platforms.
