Yokasta
Valle (31), the professional boxer
born in Nicaragua and nationalized in
Costa Rica, won a fight to keep her
two champion titles. The
athlete managed to hold two female
junior flyweight titles, one from the
International Boxing Federation (IBF)
and one from the World Boxing
Organization (WBO), both in the
105-pound weight class. On
Saturday, the tournament versus
opponent Mara Santizo of Guatemala was
held at the Commerce Casino &
Hotel in southeast Los Angeles County,
California, United States. During
the 10-round fight, the judges awarded
three scores to Valle, all of which
were in her favor: 99-91, 100-90, and
99-91.
Valle has
currently fought 30 consecutive fights,
winning 28 (nine by knockout) and losing
two. Santizo has an 11-fight record,
with 6 victories coming by knockout. Valle is a
two-time world champion, having held the
IBF female mini flyweight championship
since 2019 and the IBF female junior
mini flyweight title in 2016. She was
also challenged for the World Boxing
Organization (WBO) female junior
flyweight title in 2017 and the World
Boxing Council (WBC) female micro
flyweight title in 2018. BoxRec ranks
her as the world's fourth-best active
female tiny flyweight as of May 2020.
