On Friday




The Alajuela National Band is throwing down a Tribute to the Nation concert at the José Figueres Ferrer Historical & Cultural Center in San Ramon canton. The show kicks off at 7 p.m. It’s totally free.   









On Saturday





The Ballet Gala hits the Melico Salazar Theater in San José at 7 p.m., featuring stunning excerpts like Esmeralda, Satanella, the trio from The Night of Walpurgis, and Tour de Force. Grab your tickets at the theater box office or online at Eticket.cr.




The All-Jazz Show is taking over the Eugene O’Neill Theater in San José at 7:30 p.m., featuring the Metropolitan Symphony Orchestra and 80 amazing artists on stage. Get ready for an energetic, emotion-packed night that lets jazz do its thing. Grab your tickets at the box office or online.



Experience the passion of Flamenco Show at Casa de España in San Jose. Professional dancers light up the stage with live music, and you can enjoy a taste of authentic Spanish cuisine while you’re at it. The show starts at 8 p.m. Tickets are available at the venue box office.



Catch the Concert for Peace with the beautiful voices of the Ramonense Choir at the José Figueres Ferrer Historical & Cultural Center in San Ramon, Alajuela. It all starts at 3 p.m. Admission’s free. 



Don’t miss the Costa Rican & Mexican Music Show at the National Theater in downtown San José, featuring the María Grever-Zacatecas Orchestra from Mexico and the University of Costa Rica Chamber Choir. Two shows kick off at 5:00 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. Admission is free for everyone.



The National Stadium is turning up this weekend with a full-on Marching Band Festival. If you love live music, community energy, and a good reason to get outside, this is the move. Picture it: 25 bands from all over the country, drums, brass, and energy bouncing off the walls. This is the warm-up for the famous Christmas Lights Parade happening in December, so you’re getting a sneak peek before the big show. The show starts at 9 a.m. and it is free entry.










On Saturday and Sunday





Pull up to Expo-Pyme Fair at the Shalom Community Center, in Fraijanes canton, Alajuela and get ready for good vibes all day. Over 100 stands packed with everything from fresh jewelry and cool souvenirs to plants, fashion, and handmade furniture. Hungry? Food trucks got you covered. Plus, there’ll be live music and shows to keep the energy flowing. The free entry event kicks off at 10 a.m.  








On Sunday





The Jiří Srnec Black Light Theater from Prague is bringing its famous show to the Melico Salazar Theater in San José. The show features mesmerizing scenes unfolding in total darkness, with only glowing colors lighting the stage, a mix of dance, illusion, humor, and wonder for all ages. The two shows start at 2 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. Tickets are available at the box office or the Eticket website.




Catch the Stories of the Brothers Grimm at the National Theater in downtown San José, featuring the National Theater Company. Showtimes are 11 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. Perfect for the whole family. Grab your tickets at the box office or online.

The Mercedes Cultural Fair is taking over Central Park in Mercedes Canton, Heredia, and it’s got something for everyone. Think live music, dance shows, sports, parades, food trucks, bullfights, local vendors, and even a playground to keep the kids happy. Doors open at 9 a.m. Admission’s 100% free. 




The Escazú Canton Fair is lighting up Central Park with live music, dance shows, sports, parades, food trucks, bullfights, local vendors, and a kids' playground. Things kick off at 9 a.m., and it won’t cost you a dime to get in.



Get ready for Expo Pococí, which is taking over the fairgrounds in Guápiles, Pococí (Limón Province) with nonstop fun: parades, shows, kids’ activities, bullfights, horse competitions, dancing, rodeo action, food trucks, and live concerts. Gates open at noon, and admission is free.







Step right up to the Fuentes-Gasca Circus at the Chorotega Central Park in Cañas canton, Guanacaste. The dazzling show is filled with excitement and wonder. Witness incredible trapeze artists, captivating music, lively dance, talented jugglers, hilarious clowns, and magical acts. Performances are held daily at 3 p.m., 5 p.m., and 7:30 p.m. Tickets are available at the circus box office. Bring the whole family for an unforgettable circus experience.  





The Moliere Theater in San José shows the comedy play "Papichulo" (Handsome Daddy). The story follows a thief who ends up in all kinds of crazy trouble while trying to rob a house full of women. Showtimes:  Friday and Saturday at 8 p.m. and Sunday at 7 p.m. Tickets are $15 and can be purchased at the theater box office.







Head to the Lucho Barahona Theater in San José is serving up laughs with "Rent An Aunt," a comedy set in the 18th century. The story follows the Count of Villalpando’s family and all the wild chaos that breaks out when everyone’s chasing a big inheritance. Showtimes: Friday & Saturday at 8 p.m., Sunday at 6 p.m. Tickets are available at the theater box office.






Get ready for laughs at the Triciclo Theater in San José with "Suegras Bárbaras" (Crazy Mothers-in-Law). This hilarious comedy follows a couple on vacation who, thanks to an unexpected twist, find themselves having to bring their mother-in-law along for the ride. Performances are at 8 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, and at 5 p.m. on Sunday. Tickets are available at the theater box office.

The Gold Museum in downtown San José presents an exhibition of Costa Rican bills and coins since 1850. Also, in the exhibit are the 700 pieces of handcrafted gold made by the first population in Costa Rica. The museum opens at 9 a.m. Ticket is $15.




The National Museum in downtown San José, presents an exhibition of Costa Rica's history and handmade artifacts, including some more than 12,000 years old, made by the first peoples of the region. Museum hours are from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Ticket is $11.
