The Electricity Institute (ICE) provides prepay electricity supply to residential customers that use an Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI smart meter).

AMI meters are often automated, allowing for real-time monitoring, collecting and analyzing energy use, and interacting with sophisticated equipment such as electric meters via different communication mediums, either on-demand or on a predetermined schedule.

"Our prepay rate allows you to pay as you use electricity," said the Institute in its statement. "After depositing funds into your account, your balance is reduced as you use energy - giving you the ability to better manage both your energy usage and your budget."

Customers can pay for power in advance and use it as needed in their homes. Clients may also control, monitor, and adjust their power spend.

Transitioning to this prepay service is optional. To request this energy service, customers shouldn't have pending payments for electricity bills and pay a $50 security fee.

The minimum amount to pay in advance is around $6, which is due automatically on the first of each month.

However, failure to pay the bill for three consecutive months will result in service cancellation.

Those interested in acquiring the prepay power supply will need to provide ID, and proof of residency such as a current power service bill.  More information is available by calling the ICE 10-digit line 8000-423532.
