It's time to shake things off and let go of the past. A new beginning is in order. Let's get back to our usual January cleaning routine.
It's detox time, folks!
Detox beverages don't have to be unpleasant. It's the contrary. Most of the beverages are amazing.
Our friends Jane and William McLean share some of their drink recipes with us today.
The McLeans are a married couple in their fifties from Woodvale, Edmonton City, Alberta, Canada. They moved to Costa Rica some years ago and currently live in Heredia Province.
Their major reasons for moving to this tiny tropical paradise were the weather, the rich culture, and the abundance of gorgeous places to visit.
"Whether we talk about food, housing, utilities, transportation, entertainment, school, personal care, health or even clothing, Costa Rica is significantly cheaper than Canada," William said. "Since the country is rather affordable, a lot of Canadians look to move here to get a different taste of life."
I couldn't
agree more with the McLeans.
Make three of
their favorite tasty detox drink recipes
with a tropical twist. One glass every
morning before a light breakfast will make
you feel like a new person.
So, let's go to the kitchen!
Orange and ginger lemonade. The turmeric in the drink works wonders for aching bones post-workout. A glass of this detox drink every day will benefit the body in wonderful ways.
Ingredients: 1 Large carrot, 2 oranges, 1/2 inch raw turmeric (crushed), 1/2 inch ginger (crushed) and 1/2 lemon (juiced).
First, juice the orange and carrot separately. Then, pour the juice in a blender, add turmeric then ginger. Next, blend for 30 seconds and then squeeze half lemon. Strain and serve.
Beetroot lemonade. A refreshing drink loaded with vitamins and nutrients of carrots, apples, beetroot, radish and lemon juice to give it a citrusy kick.
Ingredients: 1 apple (chopped), 1 carrot (chopped), 1/2 beetroot (sliced), 2-3 slices white radish, 1/2 tsp lemon zest and 2 lemons (juiced).
Mix all the ingredients in a blender. Add a little bit of water to adjust the consistency. Sieve and serve.
Coconut water with lemon and mint. This is a quick summer drink to quench your thirst and soothe your soul.
Ingredients: 1 coconut, some mint leaves, 1 tbsp of honey and 1 lemon.
First, break a coconut & empty water in a jug. Then, scrape off the coconut meat using a spoon. After that, chop it finely and add it to coconut water. Add mint, honey and lemon juice as well as lemon. Mix, stir well and serve.
A very important tip. If you have any chronic illness or are allergic to any of these ingredients, you should talk to your doctor before even drinking any of these detoxes.
Have a pura vida weekend!
