Halloween has existed for over a thousand years. Originally a religious event, the holiday is now seen as a festival for dressing up and having fun, particularly among kids in the United States.

We recognize that the celebration is not particularly popular in Costa Rica, but you may get ideas from other expats or Halloween fans and celebrate the holiday on your own.

Get into the eerie mood of Halloween with these mummy hot dogs, an original and funny twist on a classic favorite. These wonderful tiny mummies are not only easy to make, but also popular with both children and adults.

Plus, with only a few ingredients, they're very easy to make.

So, let's go to the kitchen!

The ingredients for 16 guesses are:

• 16 hot dogs, 1 pack and a half.

• 1 pack of Pillsbury dough.

• ketchup, or mustard and mayo.

• candy eyes.

• skewer, toothpick, or lollipop stick.

Peel the outside of the dough package and pop it open gently. Place it onto parchment paper and pinch the dough together wherever you see that it’s separated. With a pizza cutter or a knife cutting it into thin strips, a pizza cutter is the easiest way.

Take any hotdogs you love and pat them dry with a paper towel. Place them onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, and take your dough strips and start wrapping them around a hotdog leaving an indent for the eyes.

Bake in a preheated 375F degree oven for 13-15 minutes or until golden.

Let them cool a bit, take your lollipop stick or skewer and dab it into mustard, mayonnaise or ketchup and add two dots for the eyes. Gently stick on the candy eyes.
