Costa Rica is ready for Paris 2024 Paralympic Games

The Costa Rica Paralympic Team, made up of eight athletes, gets ready to represent the country in the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games, which will take place in Paris, France, from August 28 to September 8, 2024.


"Everything is ready," said Andrés Carvajal, Costa Rica's National Paralympic Committee chairman. "We are certain that the team will achieve outstanding results."


The first athletes will be Pilar Riveros and Diego Quesada. They will compete in an archery match. The game will be held on Thursday, August 29, with Riveros participating at 5 a.m. and Quesada at 9 a.m. Costa Rica time.


José Pablo Gil will be the next Tico to participate in wheelchair tennis on Friday, August 30th at 3 a.m. Costa Rica Time.


Also on Friday, Camila Haase will represent the country in swimming competitions. She will contest in the 100-meter swim at 3:32 a.m. Costa Rica time.


Andrés Molina will get his chance next. He will compete in taekwondo on Saturday, August 31 at 2 a.m. Costa Rica time.








Also on Saturday, Paola Arana will take part in distance shooting at 10 a.m. Costa Rica time.



Then it's time for Sherman Güity, the world champion in the Olympics race in Japan in 2020. He will participate on Sunday, September 1 at noon (Costa Rica time).



Ernesto Fonseca rounds out the team for a tricycle racing match on Tuesday, September 3 at 2:45 a.m. Costa Rica Time.



The opening ceremony for the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games will take place on Wednesday, August 28 at noon (Costa Rica time), at the Place de la Concorde and Champs Elysees Avenue, with Pilar Riveros and Andrés Molina carrying the Costa Rican flag.



The Olympic Committee welcomes all Costa Ricans to support the team by viewing the competitions. Repretel Channel 6 and 11 will broadcast the Olympics across the country.



All the Paralympic events will be held in and around Paris, including the suburbs of Saint-Denis and Versailles, & Vaires-sur-Marne outside the city environs.



The Costa Rican squad's participation at the 2024 Paris Olympics was cut short as all its competitors were eliminated.
