To discuss the latest trends and challenges in tourism, Costa Rica is hosting the Tourism Congress on Sept. 5, at the National Convention Center, located in the province of Heredia.

The event is organized by the National Chamber of Tourism and the Institute of Tourism and it brings together businessmen from the industry as well as tourism organizations and chambers.

"We anticipate an event to discuss challenges and opportunities in strengthening Costa Rica's tourism industry," Tourism Minister William Rodríguez said.

Different industry specialists will discuss topics such as digital transformation, accessibility, application of artificial intelligence, competitiveness, and profitability of tourist services through conferences.

Jose Mirabal, director of the Pricing Institute of Chile, is among the invited speakers. He will discuss how to strategically optimize prices for more value, profitability and growth in tourism services.

Luis Miguel Barral, co-founder of Two Much Research Studio in Spain, will be presenting the most recent findings on Costa Rica's status as a popular tourist destination around the world. This presentation is sure to offer valuable insights for anyone interested in the tourism industry.

The Costa Rican Fisheries Federation will be presenting the findings of a study that highlights successful cases of coastal communities that have implemented activities aimed at conserving and sustainably using marine resources.

The upcoming Congress will cover various topics related to tourism. These topics include the application of artificial intelligence in the industry, economic prospects in the current situation, and the use of technology to enhance accessibility and sustainability in tourism activities.

Costa Rica's tourism industry is a significant contributor to its economy. As of June, over 1,338,000 tourists visited the country, setting a new record compared to the 1,336,000 visitors recorded in the same period in 2019, before the covid-19 pandemic.

Last year, approximately 2.3 million tourists traveled to the country, which is one million more than the number of visitors in 2021.
