On Friday




Get ready to rock this Friday at
the National Theater in San José. Giant Sleeper Rock Band is hitting the stage with a progressive metal show, playing classic metal hits from the ’90s, plus tracks from their new album. The concert kicks off at 8 p.m. Grab your tickets at the theater box office or online.




The Angelicus Chorale
is performing at the Alfredo González Flores National Monument in Heredia. The concert begins at 7 p.m. and is free for all ages.




The San José Towncity Band
is turning up the energy with a live folk music concert at the National Library in San José. It all starts at 10 a.m., and it’s completely free of charge.




The Cartago Towncity Band
is putting on a guitar concert at the Cartago Municipality Amphitheater, starting at 6:30 p.m. No tickets, no fuss, it’s free for everyone.



Experience
the Reset Show Dance at the Eugene O’Neill Theater in San José, a bold performance that explores the complex relationship between humans and technology. Catch two shows at 5 p.m. and 8 p.m. Tickets are available at the box office or online via Pretix.







On Saturday



Celebrate the magic of
Diwali Mela Festival of Lights at the Nebula Event Center in Aurora, Heredia. The festival kicks off with a traditional Pooja ceremony, followed by vibrant Indian dances, live music, tasty Indian food for purchase, and a market full of souvenirs and goods from India. The fun starts at 4:30 p.m. Grab your tickets at the venue or online at Starticket.cr.




If you’re in the mood for something a little more chill,
the Youth Symphony Orchestra is hitting the stage at the National Theater in San José. Expect an evening of pure talent and classical vibes starting at 7 p.m., and admission is totally free.










On Saturday and Sunday





Tetralia Ballet Show
, experience the grace of classical ballet this weekend at the National Auditorium in San José. The Tetralia Dance Company takes the stage with stunning performances starting at 6 p.m. both days. Tickets are available at the box office or online at Tiquetebox, a perfect night out for dance lovers.








On Sunday




The Masquerade Festival, one of San José’s most colorful traditions, hits downtown with a lively parade of masked characters and musicians starting at 10 a.m. from La Merced Church on Second Avenue. The route ends at La Soledad Church Plaza in Chinatown, where the party keeps going with live shows, concerts, food trucks, souvenir stands, and tons of cultural fun. It’s free and open to everyone.




The Ride Cultura Festival
is taking over the San Roque Cultural Center in Acosta Canton, San José, and it’s bringing the heat. Sponsored by the Ministry of Culture, the fest packs in live music, dance, sports, art, film screenings, literacy workshops, and a whole lot more. It all kicks off at 9 a.m., and the best part? The San José Towncity Band
is back with a live folk music concert at the National Museum in San José. The show kicks off at 11 a.m., and it’s completely free.




The San Carlos Towncity Band
is bringing a folk music concert to the Peace Civic Center in San Carlos, Alajuela. The show starts at 3 p.m., and it’s totally free.




The Puntarenas Towncity Band
is performing at Esparza Central Park in Puntarenas, starting at 10 a.m. It’s a free show, just bring your good vibes and enjoy the tunes.

 





This weekend




The Fuentes-Gasca Circus just rolled into the Buenos Aires Fairland in Puntarenas. It’s a full-on show packed with energy, laughter, and jaw-dropping stunts. We’re talking high-flying trapeze acts, crazy-good jugglers, live music, dancers, clowns that’ll have you cracking up, and a whole lot of magic. Shows run every day at 3 p.m., 5 p.m., and 7:30 p.m. Grab your tickets right at the box office. 




Zarcero Community Cultural Fair at the Canton Central Park. The fair features live music, dancing, sports, a horse parade, delicious food trucks, bullfights, and a playground for the kids. Everything kicks off at noon, and it’s totally free.




The Heredia Community Cultural Fair is taking over in San Rafael Canton Central Park in Heredia. The fair includes live music, dancing, sports, a horse parade, tasty food trucks, bullfights, and even a playground for the kids. It all kicks off at noon. It’s totally free.  






The Ajaluela Community Cultural Fair is lighting up San Rafael Canton Fairland in Alajuela. Expect a full day of beats, dancing, local sports, food trucks, and plenty of fun for the little ones. Things get rolling at noon, and it’s free to get in.











"Crazy Lucky" at the Máscara Theater in San José. The comedy follows the hilarious chaos that unfolds when a group of friends gets together. Showtimes are Friday and Saturday at 8 p.m. and Sunday at 6 p.m. Tickets are available at the theater’s box office.




The Torres Theater in San José is featuring the comedy play "Orgasms."  The show takes a funny and honest look at the complexities of modern relationships. Showtimes: on Friday and Saturday at 8 p.m. and on Sunday at 6 p.m. Tickets are $18 and can be purchased at the theater box office. Please note, the show is for audiences 15 years old and older.








The Moliere Theater in San José shows the comedy play "Papichulo" (Handsome Daddy). The story follows a thief who ends up in all kinds of crazy trouble while trying to rob a house full of women. Showtimes:  Friday and Saturday at 8 p.m. and Sunday at 7 p.m. Tickets are $15 and can be purchased at the theater box office.





Head to the Lucho Barahona Theater in San José is serving up laughs with "Rent An Aunt," a comedy set in the 18th century. The story follows the Count of Villalpando’s family and all the wild chaos that breaks out when everyone’s chasing a big inheritance. Showtimes: Friday & Saturday at 8 p.m., Sunday at 6 p.m. Tickets are available at the theater box office.






Get ready for laughs at the Triciclo Theater in San José with "Suegras Bárbaras" (Crazy Mothers-in-Law). This hilarious comedy follows a couple on vacation who, thanks to an unexpected twist, find themselves having to bring their mother-in-law along for the ride. Performances are at 8 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, and at 5 p.m. on Sunday. Tickets are available at the theater box office.

The Art Museum in downtown La Sabana, San José, presents private collections of Latin American artists. The museum is open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Ticket is $15.



 



The Gold Museum in downtown San José presents an exhibition of Costa Rican bills and coins since 1850. Also, in the exhibit are the 700 pieces of handcrafted gold made by the first population in Costa Rica. The museum opens at 9 a.m. Ticket is $15.
