Get ready for an exciting weekend packed with fun! From live concerts and captivating plays to vibrant festivals, cultural celebrations, and dazzling shows, there’s something for everyone to enjoy.

On Friday





The spotlight’s on Invisible Voices at the Eugene O’Neill Theater in San José. Inspired by a classic night on Broadway, this musical dives into the stories of theater singers and the voices that refuse to stay silent. Curtain goes up at 8 p.m., and you can grab your tickets at the box office or through the TicketBox website.




The Mask Festival kicks off at 5 p.m. at the UNED campus in Cartago province, bringing together over 25 visual artists, folk music, and dance. The coolest part? You’re not just watching; you get to jump in and help design and decorate masks yourself. Totally hands-on, totally free, and open to everyone.








On Saturday




The Eugene O’Neill Theater in San José is turning up the volume with Symphonic Rock Show by the Metropolitan Symphony Orchestra. Picture 30+ musicians bringing the power of Queen, Journey, Bon Jovi, The Beatles, Nirvana, and more, but with a full symphonic twist. It’s rock legends meets orchestral fire. The show starts at 7 p.m. Tickets are available at the theater box office or online.





The legendary Costa Rican rock band Time’s Forgotten takes over the National Theater in San José for their 20th anniversary blowout. Expect a killer set packed with their biggest hits from the last two decades, plus some heavy-hitting covers from iconic rock and metal bands. The show kicks off at 8 p.m.. You can snag tickets at the theater box office or online at eticket.cr.











On Saturday and Sunday





The Melico Salazar Theater in San José comes alive with the National Children’s Folklore Festival. Young dance groups from across Costa Rica will hit the stage with traditional music and dances that celebrate the country’s roots. It’s colorful, heartwarming, and perfect for the whole family. On Saturday and Sunday at 4 p.m. Tickets are available right at the theater box office.

Get your steins ready,  Oktoberfest is back this weekend at the Pedregal Events Center in Heredia. Inspired by the world-famous Munich party, this fest is bringing the flavor (and the foam) right here to Costa Rica. Think 150+ types of beer, German eats straight from the food trucks, live music, cultural shows, and plenty of lederhosen vibes. Doors open at noon, and you can grab your tickets at the venue or on the Tickz website.




Classic rock band Mustang65 hits the stage for the grand finale of Oktoberfest at the Pedregal Events Center in Heredia.  They’ll be serving up their best covers to close out the fest in style. No extra ticket needed, the concert’s included with your Oktoberfest pass. 




The Expressivo Theater in San José is putting on "1984," a powerful stage adaptation of George Orwell’s classic novel. It’s a sharp, modern take on life in a world full of surveillance and twisted truths. Showtimes are 8 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, and 6 p.m. on Sunday.  Grab your tickets at the theater box office or online.









The National Arts Festival is pulling up in the cantons of Talamanca, Matina, and Siquirres, in Limón Province. Expect live music, theater, concerts, food trucks, games for the kids, and plenty more to keep the energy going all weekend. Best part? It’s all free and open to everybody. Want the full lineup and times? Just hit up the Ministry of Culture’s website.




The Community Cultural Fair is lighting up the Tronadora Community in Tilarán canton in Guanacaste. The event includes music, dancing, sports, and a big horse parade. Hungry? Hit up the food trucks and local vendors. Feeling bold? Catch the bullfights. And don’t worry about the kiddos, there’s a playground just for them. Gates open bright and early at 9 a.m., and entry is free.




"Crazy Lucky" at the Máscara Theater in San José. The comedy follows the hilarious chaos that unfolds when a group of friends gets together. Showtimes are Friday and Saturday at 8 p.m. and Sunday at 6 p.m. Tickets are available at the theater’s box office.




The Torres Theater in San José is featuring the comedy play "Orgasms."  The show takes a funny and honest look at the complexities of modern relationships. Showtimes: on Friday and Saturday at 8 p.m. and on Sunday at 6 p.m. Tickets are $18 and can be purchased at the theater box office. Please note, the show is for audiences 15 years old and older.




Step right up to the
Fuentes-Gasca Circus at the La Paquita Fairland in Quepos Beach, Puntarenas. The dazzling show is filled with excitement and wonder. Witness incredible trapeze artists, captivating music, lively dance, talented jugglers, hilarious clowns, and magical acts. Performances are held daily at 3 p.m., 5 p.m., and 7:30 p.m. Tickets are available at the circus box office. Bring the whole family for an unforgettable circus experience.  











The Moliere Theater in San José shows the comedy play "Papichulo" (Handsome Daddy). The story follows a thief who ends up in all kinds of crazy trouble while trying to rob a house full of women. Showtimes:  Friday and Saturday at 8 p.m. and Sunday at 7 p.m. Tickets are $15 and can be purchased at the theater box office.





Head to the Lucho Barahona Theater in San José is serving up laughs with "Rent An Aunt," a comedy set in the 18th century. The story follows the Count of Villalpando’s family and all the wild chaos that breaks out when everyone’s chasing a big inheritance. Showtimes: Friday & Saturday at 8 p.m., Sunday at 6 p.m. Tickets are available at the theater box office.






Get ready for laughs at the Triciclo Theater in San José with "Suegras Bárbaras" (Crazy Mothers-in-Law). This hilarious comedy follows a couple on vacation who, thanks to an unexpected twist, find themselves having to bring their mother-in-law along for the ride. Performances are at 8 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, and at 5 p.m. on Sunday. Tickets are available at the theater box office.

The Diquis Museum in Palmar Sur, Osa, Puntarenas offers walking tours through the archaeological zone of Finca Sitio 6. Tours are available from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., with tickets costing $7 and are available on-site.





The Art Museum in downtown La Sabana, San José, presents private collections of Latin American artists. The museum is open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Ticket is $15.



 



The Gold Museum in downtown San José presents an exhibition of Costa Rican bills and coins since 1850. Also, in the exhibit are the 700 pieces of handcrafted gold made by the first population in Costa Rica. The museum opens at 9 a.m. Ticket is $15.




The National Museum in downtown San José, presents an exhibition of Costa Rica's history and handmade artifacts, including some more than 12,000 years old, made by the first peoples of the region. Museum hours are from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Ticket is $11.
