On Friday





Dance Show and plenty of energy take center stage at the Eugene O’Neill Theater in San José. The Lily Castillo Dance Studio brings more than 20 dancers to the stage, backed by live musicians for a performance packed with rhythm and excitement. Jazz fans won't want to miss this one.  Melico Salazar Theater in San José welcomes acclaimed Spanish musicians David Sancho, Jesús Caparrós, and Fran Gayo for an evening of a spectacular European Jazz Show. If you're looking to kick off the weekend with incredible live music, this is the place to be. The show starts at 7 p.m. Tickets are available at the theater box office.




Diesel Rock Band takes the stage at Jazz Café Pub in Escazú, San José, delivering a high-energy set packed with rock favorites from the ’70s, ’80s, and ’90s. The concert starts at 8:30 p.m. Tickets are available at the venue’s box office.





On Friday and Saturday



 



Wine Fest takes over the Nebula Events Center in Heredia for a weekend made for wine and food lovers. This experience combines a lively atmosphere with a diverse selection of wines and flavors to explore. General Admission includes an official festival glass, full access to the event, and a guided stroll through the wine and food areas where guests can sample and discover new favorites. The party begins at 2 p.m. Tickets are available at the venue’s box office.










On Saturday




If piano music is your thing, or you're just looking for a classy night out, the National Theater in San José has you covered with Piano Fest. This incredible concert brings together talented Costa Rican musicians alongside guest artists from Argentina, Japan, and the United States. Expect a mix of classical favorites, smooth jazz, and pop hits, all coming together for a world-class musical experience. Get ready for a  
Broadway Show at the Eugene O’Neill Theater in San José. This musical performance serves up some of the greatest jazz-inspired songs from legendary New York Broadway productions, making it the perfect night for theater lovers and music fans alike. Celebrate the heart and soul of Costa Rica at
the Melico Salazar Theater in San José with a colorful Folk Dance and Music Show featuring Grupo Tiquicia. The show showcases traditional songs and lively dances that highlight the country's rich cultural heritage. This Weekend




Cahuita Beach Central Park in Limón turns into one big Caribbean celebration during the Walter Ferguson International Calypso Festival. Organized by the Municipality of Limón and the Ministry of Culture, this three-day festival features nonstop live music from standout acts including Tropical Caribbean Music, the Limón Concert Band, Kawe, Grupo Garifona, and Mike Joseph & Di Gud Frendz, plus many more. Come hungry, because you'll also find Caribbean food trucks, local vendors, and plenty of handmade souvenirs from area entrepreneurs. The festival kicks off at noon, and admission is free for everyone.




Grab your sunscreen and head to
Hermosa Beach in Puntarenas, where the National Surf Circuit, organized by the Surf Federation, wraps up with its final competitions of the season. The country's top surfers will battle it out for 2,500 ranking points as they compete for a spot in this year's national standings. Competition begins daily at 9 a.m., and admission is completely free.




Food lovers can take a culinary trip north this weekend at
the Korean Food Festival in San José’s Escalante District. Organized by the South Korean Embassy, the festival features a variety of traditional Korean cuisine, which is famous for its bold flavors, the use of fermented vegetables, and the wide variety of side dishes (banchan). Iconic dishes include kimchi, bibimbap, bulgogi, spicy tteokbokki, and much more. Participating restaurants include La Parrillada Argentina, Hoja de Plátano, Perséfone y Deméter, Olio, Vinoteca, Agüizotes, Ukelele, Dulce Junio, Loretto’s, Tapis y Tapas, Árbol de Seda, and Garden Bistró among many others. No reservations are required, so visitors can simply show up and enjoy the flavors of Korea.







The Quepos Beach Community Fair, held in honor of the Virgin of the Sea, is also bringing plenty of excitement to the beach port in Quepos, Puntarenas. The weekend celebration features carnival rides, live concerts, sports activities, colorful masquerades, and a great variety of local food vendors. Festivities begin at noon each day, and admission is free.




Expresivo Theater in San José is bringing back the popular comedy "Addicted to You," a hilarious play about five women who unexpectedly find themselves stranded in an airport. Along the way, the story dives into topics like health, illness, grief and emotional codependency with plenty of humor. Catch the dramatic play
"Condominium" at the Vargas Calvo Theater in San José. The production explores the ups and downs of family relationships, touching on love, rivalry and the search for happiness. Recommended for audiences 15 and older, performances are Friday and Saturday at 8 p.m., with a Sunday show at 5 p.m. Tickets are available at the theater box office or through the National Theater website, which sponsors the production.









Over at  Escenario Theater in San José, the comedy "Toc Toc" brings the laughs with a wild setup: a group of patients with obsessive-compulsive disorder stuck together in a waiting room. Yeah, it gets chaotic in the best way. Showtimes are Friday and Saturday at 8 p.m. Sunday at 4 p.m. Tickets are available at the box office or online.




Lucho Barahona Theater in San José is serving up laughs with
"Everything Can Get Worse." The play follows a chain reaction of hilarious mishaps that begin with a small lie and quickly spiral into one outrageous catastrophe after another. Shows run Friday and Saturday at 8 p.m., and Sunday at 5 p.m. Tickets are available at the theater box office or online. This comedy is intended for audiences 18 and older.





Tricycle Theater in San José is putting a fun twist on mystery with “Shear Madness,” based on the German play “Scherenschnitt” by Paul Pörtner. This interactive comedy drops you right into a unisex hair salon where a famous pianist upstairs gets murdered—and suddenly everyone’s a suspect. Expect laughs, surprises, and a chance to be part of the action. Showtimes are Friday and Saturday at 8 p.m., and Sunday at 5 p.m. Tickets are available at the theater box office or online.

The Gold Museum in downtown San José presents an exhibition of Costa Rican bills and coins since 1850. Also, in the exhibit are the 700 pieces of handcrafted gold made by the first population in Costa Rica. The museum opens at 9 a.m.




The National Museum in downtown San José, presents an exhibition of Costa Rica's history and handmade artifacts, including some more than 12,000 years old, made by the first peoples of the region. Museum hours are from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
