Get ready for an exciting weekend packed with fun! From live concerts and captivating plays to vibrant festivals, cultural celebrations, and dazzling shows, there’s something for everyone to enjoy.

On Friday



Friday. The free live Latin music, as several towns' municipal children's bands perform concerts for the public in communities across the country. Admission is free for all concerts.

4 p.m. — Biblical Church Jerusalén, Pavas Canton, San José.

5 p.m. — SINEM Musical School, Pococí Canton, Limón.

5 p.m. — Vida Abundante Church, San Vito District, Coto Brus Canton, Puntarenas.

On Saturday



 


Music lovers can also enjoy "From Baroque to Jazz," a special piano concert on Saturday at the José Figueres Ferrer Museum in Alajuela. Pianists from the University of Costa Rica's School of Music will perform a program that blends classical masterpieces with jazz favorites. The concert begins at 2:30 p.m., and admission is free.




The San José Youth Symphony Orchestra takes the stage at the Costa Rican Art Museum with a concert celebrating the rich sounds of Latin America. The performance begins at 3 p.m., and everyone is welcome to attend free of charge.




Enjoy live classical music as
the San José Youth Symphonic Orchestra performs at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart of Llorente Catholic Church in Tibás Canton, San José. The concert starts at 7 p.m., and admission is free.










On Saturday and Sunday





The Eugene O’Neill Theater in San José is bringing the heat with the Tropical Music Dance Show, featuring the talented dancers of the Bianco & Mainieri Dance School. The performance celebrates the energy of tropical rhythms, including salsa, mambo, merengue, and more. Saturday's show starts at 4:30 p.m., while Sunday's performances are scheduled for 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. Tickets are available at the theater box office or through the Ticket Box website.




Fans of legendary Mexican singer Juan Gabriel won't want to miss "Remembering Juan Gabriel," a tribute concert at the Melico Salazar Theater in San José featuring the Philharmonic Orchestra. The show promises an unforgettable journey through some of his greatest hits. Performances are scheduled for 8 p.m. Saturday and 4 p.m. Sunday. Tickets are available at the theater box office or through the Public Tickets website.

Looking for family fun? The San Pedro Community Fair is turning the town fairgrounds in San Pedro Park in Santa Bárbara Canton, Heredia, into a lively weekend celebration. Visitors can enjoy carnival rides, live concerts, sports activities, colorful masquerades, and plenty of local food vendors. Activities begin at noon each day, and admission is free.

The Shark Festival is happening at Amor de Temporada Park in Coco Beach, Carrillo Canton, Guanacaste. The event celebrates shark conservation with a variety of activities, including educational programs about protecting the species, scuba diving, whale and dolphin watching, birdwatching, and more. All activities are free and open to the public.








Looking for a good laugh? Expresivo Theater in San José is bringing back the popular comedy "Addicted to You," a hilarious play about five women who unexpectedly find themselves stranded in an airport. Along the way, the story dives into topics like health, illness, grief and emotional codependency with plenty of humor. Showtimes are Friday and Saturday at 8 p.m., and Sunday at 6 p.m. Grab your tickets at the theater box office or online.




Catch the dramatic play
"Condominium" at the Vargas Calvo Theater in San José. The production explores the ups and downs of family relationships, touching on love, rivalry and the search for happiness. Recommended for audiences 15 and older, performances are Friday and Saturday at 8 p.m., with a Sunday show at 5 p.m. Tickets are available at the theater box office or through the National Theater website, which sponsors the production.









Over at  Escenario Theater in San José, the comedy "Toc Toc" brings the laughs with a wild setup: a group of patients with obsessive-compulsive disorder stuck together in a waiting room. Yeah, it gets chaotic in the best way. Showtimes are Friday and Saturday at 8 p.m. Sunday at 4 p.m. Tickets are available at the box office or online.




Lucho Barahona Theater in San José is serving up laughs with
"Everything Can Get Worse." The play follows a chain reaction of hilarious mishaps that begin with a small lie and quickly spiral into one outrageous catastrophe after another. Shows run Friday and Saturday at 8 p.m., and Sunday at 5 p.m. Tickets are available at the theater box office or online. This comedy is intended for audiences 18 and older.





Tricycle Theater in San José is putting a fun twist on mystery with “Shear Madness,” based on the German play “Scherenschnitt” by Paul Pörtner. This interactive comedy drops you right into a unisex hair salon where a famous pianist upstairs gets murdered—and suddenly everyone’s a suspect. The Gold Museum in downtown San José presents an exhibition of Costa Rican bills and coins since 1850. Also, in the exhibit are the 700 pieces of handcrafted gold made by the first population in Costa Rica. The museum opens at 9 a.m.




The National Museum in downtown San José, presents an exhibition of Costa Rica's history and handmade artifacts, including some more than 12,000 years old, made by the first peoples of the region. Museum hours are from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
