On Friday




The National Choral Festival takes over Santa Teresita Catholic Church in downtown San José for an evening filled with outstanding choral performances. Some of Costa Rica's top choirs will take the stage, joined by special guests from Guatemala, the Kem B'ix Choir, adding an international flavor to the event. The free concert begins at 6:30 p.m.




Ready for some classic rock?
Tortugas Rock Band hits the stage at Jazz Café Pub in San José for a night of live music, great vibes and plenty of crowd favorites. The show starts at 8 p.m. Tickets are available at the venue's box office.




The Puntarenas Town Band
is turning up the energy with a free live Latin music concert at José María Zeledón Brenes School in Miramar, Puntarenas. The free concert begins at 5 p.m., making it a great way to kick off the weekend.







On Saturday



 

The National Theater in San José welcomes the Musique Sur La Mer Youth Orchestras, a talented youth ensemble from Long Beach, California, for a special one-night concert. Led by Marcy A. Sudock, the orchestra will perform an exciting mix of pieces, including La Bella Galatea, Sleeping Beauty Waltz, Foggy Mountain Breakdown, Black Dog Unleashed, and Las Golondrinas. Founded in 2000, Musique Sur La Mer Youth Orchestras inspires young musicians to promote peace through music, performing on international stages as well as in schools, hospitals and charitable organizations. The free concert begins at 6 p.m. Seating is limited, so plan to arrive early.




Pop music meets the power of a live orchestra during
the Vogue concert at the National Auditorium in San José. Backed by the Metropolitan Symphony Orchestra, the show features hit songs made famous by Adele, Lady Gaga, Rihanna, Ariana Grande, Madonna and other pop superstars. Along with outstanding musicians, the performance includes talented singers and dancers for an unforgettable night of entertainment. On Sunday



Experience the beauty of Costa Rican traditions at "Folkloriada," a colorful folk music and dance performance at the Melico Salazar Theater in San José. The show features several dance companies from San José and Guanacaste celebrating the country's rich cultural heritage. Spend your Sunday morning with live folk music as the San José Municipality Band performs a free concert at the National Museum in downtown San José. The free concert begins at 11 a.m. and offers a relaxed way to enjoy traditional Costa Rican sounds in one of the city's most iconic settings.




Start your Sunday with live Latin music as the Cartago Town Band performs at Corazón de Jesús Catholic Church in the San Rafael District of Oreamuno Canton, Cartago. The free concert begins at 9 a.m.









This Weekend




Looking for a good laugh?
Expresivo Theater in San José is bringing back the popular comedy "Addicted to You," a hilarious play about five women who unexpectedly find themselves stranded in an airport. Along the way, the story dives into topics like health, illness, grief and emotional codependency with plenty of humor. Showtimes are Friday and Saturday at 8 p.m., and Sunday at 6 p.m. Grab your tickets at the theater box office or online.





If you love classical music, don't miss
the National Symphony Orchestra's special concert series at The National Theater in San José. The program features works by Carl Nielsen, Anton Bruckner's Symphony No. 4 "Romantic," and other timeless masterpieces. Friday's concert starts at 8 p.m., Saturday's performance begins at 10 a.m., and Sunday's concert starts at 10:30 a.m. Tickets are available at the theater box office or through the theater's website.




Catch the dramatic play
"Condominium" at the Vargas Calvo Theater in San José. The production explores the ups and downs of family relationships, touching on love, rivalry and the search for happiness. Recommended for audiences 15 and older, performances are Friday and Saturday at 8 p.m., with a Sunday show at 5 p.m. Tickets are available at the theater box office or through the National Theater website, which sponsors the production.









Over at  Escenario Theater in San José, the comedy "Toc Toc" brings the laughs with a wild setup: a group of patients with obsessive-compulsive disorder stuck together in a waiting room. Yeah, it gets chaotic in the best way. Showtimes are Friday and Saturday at 8 p.m. Sunday at 4 p.m. Tickets are available at the box office or online.




Lucho Barahona Theater in San José is serving up laughs with
"Everything Can Get Worse." The play follows a chain reaction of hilarious mishaps that begin with a small lie and quickly spiral into one outrageous catastrophe after another. Shows run Friday and Saturday at 8 p.m., and Sunday at 5 p.m. Tickets are available at the theater box office or online. This comedy is intended for audiences 18 and older.






Tricycle Theater in San José is putting a fun twist on mystery with “Shear Madness,” based on the German play “Scherenschnitt” by Paul Pörtner. This interactive comedy drops you right into a unisex hair salon where a famous pianist upstairs gets murdered—and suddenly everyone’s a suspect. Expect laughs, surprises, and a chance to be part of the action. Showtimes are Friday and Saturday at 8 p.m., and Sunday at 5 p.m. Tickets are available at the theater box office or online.




The Fuentes Gasca Circus is in town, and it’s bringing nonstop action all weekend in next to Santa Ana Megasuper supermarket in San José. Expect high-flying trapeze acts, sharp juggling, live music, dancers, and clowns that actually land the jokes. There’s just enough magic in the mix to keep things moving fast and fun. The Gold Museum in downtown San José presents an exhibition of Costa Rican bills and coins since 1850. Also, in the exhibit are the 700 pieces of handcrafted gold made by the first population in Costa Rica. The museum opens at 9 a.m.
