On Friday
The National Choral Festival
takes over Santa Teresita
Catholic Church
in downtown San José for an evening
filled with outstanding choral
performances. Some of Costa Rica's top
choirs will take the stage, joined by
special guests from Guatemala, the Kem
B'ix Choir, adding an international
flavor to the event. The free concert
begins at 6:30 p.m.
On Saturday
The National
Theater
in San José welcomes the Musique Sur La Mer Youth
Orchestras,
a talented youth ensemble from Long
Beach, California, for a special
one-night concert. Led by Marcy A.
Sudock, the orchestra will perform an
exciting mix of pieces, including La
Bella Galatea, Sleeping Beauty Waltz,
Foggy Mountain Breakdown, Black Dog
Unleashed, and Las Golondrinas.
Founded in 2000, Musique Sur La Mer
Youth Orchestras inspires young
musicians to promote peace through
music, performing on international
stages as well as in schools,
hospitals and
charitable organizations. The free
concert begins at 6 p.m. Seating is
limited, so plan to arrive early.
Experience the beauty of Costa
Rican traditions at "Folkloriada," a colorful folk music and dance
performance at the Melico Salazar
Theater in San José. The show features
several dance companies from San
José and Guanacaste celebrating the
country's rich cultural heritage.

live folk music as the San
José Municipality Band performs a free concert at the National Museum in downtown San José. The free
concert begins at 11 a.m. and offers
a relaxed way to enjoy traditional
Costa Rican sounds in one of the
city's most iconic settings. Start your Sunday with live Latin
music as the Cartago
Town Band performs at Corazón de Jesús
Catholic Church in the San Rafael District of
Oreamuno Canton, Cartago. The free
concert begins at 9 a.m.
This Weekend
Over
at Escenario Theater
in San José,
the comedy
"Toc Toc"
brings
the laughs with a wild setup: a group
of patients with obsessive-compulsive
disorder stuck together in a waiting
room. Yeah, it gets chaotic in the
best way. Showtimes are Friday and
Saturday at 8 p.m. Sunday at 4 p.m. Tickets are
available at the box office or
online.
The Fuentes Gasca Circus is in town, and it’s bringing nonstop action all weekend in next to Santa Ana Megasuper supermarket in San José. Expect high-flying trapeze acts, sharp juggling, live music, dancers, and clowns that actually land the jokes. There’s just enough magic in the mix to keep things moving fast and fun. Shows run daily at 3 p.m., 5 p.m., and 7:30 p.m. Tickets are available right at the circus box office.
