On Friday



The Music Orchestra of San José
is bringing live classical music to its facilities in Acosta canton, San José. The concert starts at 3 p.m. and offers a relaxed way to enjoy an afternoon filled with orchestral performances. Admission is free for everyone.




Latin music superstar
Chayanne hits the stage at the National Stadium in San José as part of his “Bailemos Otra Vez 2026” world tour. Fans can expect a night packed with iconic hits, high-energy performances, and plenty of dancing when the concert begins at 7 p.m. Tickets are available through the Eticket website.




The National Symphony Orchestra
presents a special classical concert at the San Rafael Arcángel Catholic Church in Escazú, San José. The program includes pieces by Carl Maria von Weber, Ernest Chausson, Bedřich Smetana, Mauricio Villalobos, Giovanni Bottesini, Georges Bizet, and Ernest Guiraud. Music lovers can enjoy selections ranging from violin and horn solos to orchestral favorites beginning at 7 p.m. Admission is free.





On Saturday




The Epic Symphony
show from Spain is bringing a massive audiovisual experience to the National Auditorium in San José. This immersive production blends powerful orchestral music, live choir performances, dancers, and cutting-edge visual technology into one unforgettable show packed with energy and emotion. Audiences will experience iconic classical masterpieces like Carl Orff’s Carmina Burana, Ludwig van Beethoven’s “Ode to Joy,” and Antonio Vivaldi’s The Four Seasons, along with other legendary works performed in a modern, cinematic style. There will be two performances on Saturday, one at 4 p.m. and another at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are available at the venue’s box office and through the Specialticket website.








On Saturday and Sunday




The internationally acclaimed Broadway Forever Tango Show hits the stage at the Melico Salazar Theater in San José. The production features 14 world-class dancers and 12 live musicians, including three master bandoneon players, in a powerful performance that tells the story of tango’s birth and evolution. Saturday’s show starts at 7 p.m., while Sunday’s performance begins at 5 p.m. Tickets are available through the Eticket website.




The Winter Guard International Latin America Fest takes over the Sport Palace in Heredia with an international showcase featuring some of the top student marching bands from Costa Rica, Mexico, El Salvador, Puerto Rico, and Brazil. The festival brings together three high-energy disciplines, color guard, percussion, and wind ensemble, for two full days of music, rhythm, and nonstop performance action. Everything kicks off at 9 a.m., and admission is completely free.

On Sunday



The National Rallycross Championship
races into Campo Ayala Event Center in Cartago. Drivers will battle it out on dirt and mud tracks in specially modified competition cars, including appearances from the country’s top rallycross talent. The action starts at 9 a.m., and tickets will be available at the venue and through the Passline website.




Cosplay Summit takes over the Eugene O’Neill Theater in San José. The event features top-level cosplay competitions, cash prizes, and the chance for the winning duo to become Team Costa Rica and represent the country at the World Cosplay Summit 2026 in Japan. The show begins at 2 p.m., with tickets available at the theater box office and through the Omticket website.







This Weekend



Head over to the Vargas Calvo Theater for Sibelius, a comedy that dives into the lives of Sebastián and Ulysses, one a writer, the other a merchant marine, as their stories and experiences collide in unexpected ways. Showtimes are 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and 5 p.m. Sunday. Tickets are available at the theater box office or through the Nacional Theater website, which is sponsoring the production.






Over at  Escenario Theater in San José, the comedy "Toc Toc" brings the laughs with a wild setup: a group of patients with obsessive-compulsive disorder stuck together in a waiting room. Yeah, it gets chaotic in the best way. Showtimes are Friday and Saturday at 8 p.m. Sunday at 4 p.m. Tickets are available at the box office or online.










Expresivo Theater in San José is bringing the laughs with “Therapy,” a comedy based on the original play by Argentine writer Matías Del Federico. The story follows three couples stepping into a therapy session hoping to fix their issues, but things spiral into straight-up hilarious chaos instead. Shows run Friday and Saturday at 8 p.m., and Sunday at 6 p.m. Grab your tickets at the theater box office or online.


 



Lucho Barahona Theater in San José
is serving up laughs with “El que busca, encuentra" ("Track Down"), a comedy based on a play by French writer Marc Camoletti. The setup? Four women sharing a house, each trying to fix their personal drama by secretly posting classified ads. Sounds simple—until their plans crash into each other and everything spirals into hilarious chaos with potential roommates and plenty of conflict. Shows run Friday and Saturday at 8 p.m., and Sunday at 5 p.m. Tickets are available at the theater box office or online.






Tricycle Theater in San José is putting a fun twist on mystery with “Shear Madness,” based on the German play “Scherenschnitt” by Paul Pörtner. This interactive comedy drops you right into a unisex hair salon where a famous pianist upstairs gets murdered—and suddenly everyone’s a suspect. Expect laughs, surprises, and a chance to be part of the action. Showtimes are Friday and Saturday at 8 p.m., and Sunday at 5 p.m. Tickets are available at the theater box office or online.




The Fuentes Gasca Circus is in town, and it’s bringing nonstop action all weekend at in front of Municipality of Cartago Canton in Cartago province. Expect high-flying trapeze acts, sharp juggling, live music, dancers, and clowns that actually land the jokes. There’s just enough magic in the mix to keep things moving fast and fun. Shows run daily at 3 p.m., 5 p.m., and 7:30 p.m. Tickets are available right at the circus box office.

The Gold Museum in downtown San José presents an exhibition of Costa Rican bills and coins since 1850. Also, in the exhibit are the 700 pieces of handcrafted gold made by the first population in Costa Rica. The museum opens at 9 a.m.




The National Museum in downtown San José, presents an exhibition of Costa Rica's history and handmade artifacts, including some more than 12,000 years old, made by the first peoples of the region. Museum hours are from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
