The National Music System Orchestra of Guanacaste is bringing a live classical music experience to the Catholic Church in the Los Angeles District of Nicoya, Guanacaste. The concert starts at 6 p.m., and the best part is that admission is completely free.

Taco lovers, this one’s for you. Taco Fest is taking over the Mexico Cultural Institute facilities in San José, with more than 20 food trucks serving authentic Mexican tacos all weekend long. Organized by the Mexican Embassy, the festival also features live music, dance performances, and a mariachi show to keep the energy going all day. Everything kicks off at 10 a.m., and admission is free.








On Friday and Sunday



The National Symphony Orchestra is taking over the National Theater in San José for a powerful classical music experience. Friday night’s performance kicks off at 8 p.m., while Sunday’s show starts at 10:30 a.m. It’s a perfect pick whether you’re winding down your week or easing into your Sunday morning. On Saturday



Classical music takes over León Cortés Canton in San José as the National Music System Orchestra of San José performs live at Municipality facilities starting at 1 p.m. It’s a free concert.

The Sabana Metropolitan Park in San José, hosted Family Fest, organized by the Municipality. Expect DJ music, skate games, inflatables, dance and aerobics sessions, food trucks, playgrounds for the kids, and activities all day long. It’s pet-friendly, free to attend, and starts at 10 a.m. Bring the whole crew and make a day out of it.




The Eugene O'Neill Theater in San José brings the stage to life with TEATRALIA, a modern dance performance packed with movement, creativity, and contemporary artistic energy. Showtime begins at 8 p.m. Tickets are available at the theater box office or through the Tiquetebox website.






On Sunday



Internationally acclaimed a cappella group
The Swingles takes the stage for one special performance at the National Auditorium in San José. Originally founded by Ward Swingle in France in 1962, the group now features seven artists from around the world blending vocals, harmonies, composition, and live performance into one unique sound. The lineup includes Mallika Bhagwat, Sarah Alison, Laura Moisey-Gray, James Botcher, Owen Butcher, Jamie Wright, and Tom Hartley. Showtime starts at 5 p.m. Tickets are available at the venue’s box office or on the Eticket website.




The
National Theater in San José is setting the mood with a beautiful Latin music serenade featuring the Mbaraka Guitar Trio from Paraguay. The concert starts at 5 p.m. and promises an evening filled with rich guitar melodies and classic Latin vibes. Tickets are available at the theater box office or online.





The Pérez Zeledón’s Central Park comes alive with a colorful traditional Oxcart Parade celebrating Costa Rican folk culture. Organized by the municipality, the event features folk music concerts, food stands, souvenir vendors, and cultural dance performances throughout the day. The parade rolls out at 9 a.m., and admission is free.









This Weekend



Head over to the Vargas Calvo Theater for Sibelius, a comedy that dives into the lives of Sebastián and Ulysses, one a writer, the other a merchant marine, as their stories and experiences collide in unexpected ways. Showtimes are 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and 5 p.m. Sunday. Tickets are available at the theater box office or through the Nacional Theater website, which is sponsoring the production.





Guácimo in Limón is hosting
Yuca Fest, at the Guacimo Central Park, a community cultural festival packed with entertainment, food, and live music. Organized by the Guácimo municipality, the event includes food stalls, a kids’ playground, games for older children, and an entertainment zone with activities for all ages. The festival starts at noon, and admission is free.




Coronado Canton Festival is turning the canton’s central park into a nonstop community celebration. Families can expect carnival rides, live concerts, sports activities, masquerades, traditional rodeo entertainment, bullfights, and a huge variety of local food stands. It’s the kind of laid-back local fair where you can spend the whole day hanging out, eating, and enjoying the atmosphere with friends and family. Activities start at noon, and admission is free.









Over at  Escenario Theater in San José, the comedy "Toc Toc" brings the laughs with a wild setup: a group of patients with obsessive-compulsive disorder stuck together in a waiting room. Yeah, it gets chaotic in the best way. Showtimes are Friday and Saturday at 8 p.m. Sunday at 4 p.m. Tickets are available at the box office or online.




Expresivo Theater in San José is bringing the laughs with “Therapy,” a comedy based on the original play by Argentine writer Matías Del Federico. The story follows three couples stepping into a therapy session hoping to fix their issues, but things spiral into straight-up hilarious chaos instead. Shows run Friday and Saturday at 8 p.m., and Sunday at 6 p.m. Grab your tickets at the theater box office or online.











Lucho Barahona Theater in San José is serving up laughs with “El que busca, encuentra" ("Track Down"), a comedy based on a play by French writer Marc Camoletti. The setup? Four women sharing a house, each trying to fix their personal drama by secretly posting classified ads. Sounds simple—until their plans crash into each other and everything spirals into hilarious chaos with potential roommates and plenty of conflict. Shows run Friday and Saturday at 8 p.m., and Sunday at 5 p.m. Tickets are available at the theater box office or online.






Tricycle Theater in San José is putting a fun twist on mystery with “Shear Madness,” based on the German play “Scherenschnitt” by Paul Pörtner. This interactive comedy drops you right into a unisex hair salon where a famous pianist upstairs gets murdered—and suddenly everyone’s a suspect. Expect laughs, surprises, and a chance to be part of the action. Showtimes are Friday and Saturday at 8 p.m., and Sunday at 5 p.m. Tickets are available at the theater box office or online.









The Fuentes Gasca Circus is in town, and it’s bringing nonstop action all weekend at in front of Municipality of Cartago Canton in Cartago province. Expect high-flying trapeze acts, sharp juggling, live music, dancers, and clowns that actually land the jokes. There’s just enough magic in the mix to keep things moving fast and fun. Shows run daily at 3 p.m., 5 p.m., and 7:30 p.m. Tickets are available right at the circus box office.

The Gold Museum in downtown San José presents an exhibition of Costa Rican bills and coins since 1850. Also, in the exhibit are the 700 pieces of handcrafted gold made by the first population in Costa Rica. The museum opens at 9 a.m.
