The laughs come
with a twist at Comedia Theater in
San José, where the comedy
“Nobody
Pays Here” hits the stage.
The play follows a wildly dysfunctional
family that somehow manages to tackle
everyday problems with the most
unexpected and hilarious solutions.
Showtime is 2 p.m. Tickets are available

On Saturday
Christina
Aguilera is
about to shut it down as
the headline act at the
annual Picnic Festival at
the
Pedregal Events Center in
Heredia. The global
superstar is closing out
this multi-genre fest that
blends Latin, electronic,
and pop sounds with top
international and local
artists. Expect her to hit
the stage with fan
favorites like “Genie in a
Bottle,” “What a Girl
Wants,” “Beautiful,”
“Dirrty,” “Ain’t No Other
Man,” and “Lady
Marmalade.” The festival

Peruvian Gastronomy Fair is
taking over San
José National Park for
a full day dedicated to

Peruvian Embassy in Costa

ceviche, stir-fry beef,
rotisserie chicken, and
more. On top of that,
you’ve got live Peruvian
music and dance bringing
the whole experience to
life. It starts at 10
a.m., and admission is
free. The
Spanish Gastronomic
Festival is
going down at Escazú
Central Park in
San José, and it’s shaping
up to be a full-on
cultural vibe. Backed by
the Municipality of Escazú
and the Official Spanish
Chamber of Commerce and
Industry in Costa Rica,
this spot is bringing
together booths from
Spanish restaurants, plus
dancing, live music,
cultural shows, and even a
play area for the kids.
Things kick off at 11:30
a.m., and entry is
completely free. The
National Theater in
San José is hosting a Jazz
Recital
featuring a powerhouse
quartet—Yannick Alcocer,
Jean Lardanchet, Sylvain
Pourrat, and Laurent
Vincenza. As part of the
International Arts
Festival, this show brings
a smooth, live jazz vibe
to one of the city’s most
iconic venues. It starts
at 4 p.m., and admission
is free.
On Saturday and Sunday
Mardi
Gras Festival is landing at Aleste Shopping
Center in San José,
bringing a mix of live music and a food
court to keep things lively all weekend.
Organized by the Costa Rican and French
Chamber of Commerce, this is a laid-back
but festive scene where you can just
show up, grab some food, and enjoy the
vibe. It starts at noon, and entry is
free.
Macbeth Room hits the stage at the National Theater, offering a fresh take inspired by Shakespeare’s The Tragedy of Macbeth. Set in 1606, this production brings drama, intensity, and a modern edge to the classic story. Showtimes are 7 p.m. on Saturday and 5 p.m. on Sunday. experience. It starts at 3 p.m., and

It’s all about big hits and serious competition as the Costa Rica Football League brings the action to Pipilo Umaña Stadium in Moravia, San José. This is American football, full speed—helmets clashing and teams going all in for the title. The day starts with Toros FT vs. Leones FT at 10 a.m., then at 1 p.m., defending champs Dawgs FT face off against Tigers FT in a game that decides who takes the crown. Tickets are available at the stadium, and you’ll find food, drinks, and official team merch on site.

over La Sabana
Metropolitan Park in San
José with a massive lineup of
over 200 national and
international performers. This
is where it all comes
together—movies, plays,
concerts, dance, cheerleading,
circus shows, and more. It’s a
full-on cultural explosion, and
the festival website
has the full schedule so you
can plan your moves. Ride
Cultura Festival is taking
over the cantons of Sámara,
Santa Rosa, and Hojancha in
Guanacaste, turning the whole
area into one big creative
playground. Sponsored by the
Ministry of Culture, this fest
is stacked with live music,
dance, sports, art, film
screenings, literacy workshops,
and more. It all starts rolling
at 9 a.m., and it’s totally

The Eugene O'Neill Theater in San José stages the play "Trees Die Standing," inspired by the original work of Spanish playwright Alejandro Casona. The story offers a poignant exploration of life’s hardships, set against the redemptive power of love, as characters from different generations intertwine their dreams, illusions, and conflicting values. Performances take place at 8 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, and at 5 p.m. on Sunday. Tickets are available at the theater box office or online.
Puerto Viejo
Beach Community Fair is bringing the energy to the town’s central park in
Limón. Expect live music, dance
performances, traditional
bullfights, and a colorful horse
parade that keeps things moving all
day. There are food stands
everywhere and a playground for the
kids, so it’s easy to make a full
day out of it. Everything kicks off
at noon, and admission is free. The Villa
Cultural Festival is setting up at Mercado Viejo in Ciudad
Colón, San José, and it’s all about
celebrating Costa Rican culture in a
real, authentic way. Organized by
the local municipality, the event
features music, dance, and
recreational activities that
highlight tradition and community.

Catch the romantic comedy “Just Like That” at the Expressivo Theater in San José. This one dives into the messy, funny, all-too-relatable challenges couples face when love by itself doesn’t solve everything. playwright Marc Camoletti, the story
follows a series of hilarious
misunderstandings in a renovated French
farmhouse about two hours from Paris,

Jacqueline, away for the weekend so he
can spend time with his mistress,
Suzanne, a Parisian model. The play
starts at 8 p.m. on Fridays and
Saturdays and at 5 p.m. on Sundays.
