Most retail fuel prices in Costa Rica have increased across all fuel products, except for super gasoline (RON 95), the Public Services Regulatory Authority (Aresep) announced. The price adjustment follows a request from the state-owned Costa Rican Oil Refinery (Recope), which sought to align domestic fuel prices with recent movements in international markets. Aresep said the new rates reflect increases in several components calculated when fuel imports were negotiated between Feb 15 and March 15, 2026. Those factors include international oil prices, taxes, import costs and the exchange rate. Authorities warned fuel import costs could climb further in the coming weeks amid the ongoing conflict in the Middle East.
