Costa Rican authorities have deported a woman of Czech nationality, identified by the surname Jakubcova, whom the Czech Republic wanted.

According to the Judicial Investigation Organization (OIJ), the Czech Republic issued a Red Notice for the 37-year-old on charges related to the illicit production of narcotics, psychotropic substances and poisons.

Jakubcova and her husband, a 52-year-old man identified by the last name Zitnik, were arrested in July 2025 after authorities located them in a public area in the canton of Puerto Jiménez in Puntarenas Province.

Following standard security protocols, Jakubcova was transferred to the Migration Apprehension Center in San José, where she remained until her extradition was completed Tuesday evening.

She was handed over to Interpol agents at Juan Santamaría International Airport, in a transfer coordinated by both Interpol and the OIJ.

Authorities did not provide additional information about the investigation, citing confidentiality rules. Officials said only members of Jakubcova’s family are authorized to request further details.

The case is one of several recent deportations involving foreign nationals in Costa Rica. Early December, a 38-year-old Canadian citizen identified by the surname Conneh was deported to the United States, where he is wanted in connection with a fraud and money-laundering conspiracy.

The OIJ is urging the public to report any suspected individuals who may be hiding in Costa Rica under a Red Notice. Confidential tips can be submitted by calling the 10-digit hotline 800-8000-645 or the fast line 11-76. Bilingual agents are available to assist in English or Spanish.

The Judicial Investigation Organization, a division of Costa Rica’s Supreme Court of Justice, is responsible for conducting criminal investigations. Officers in the unit have nationwide police authority.
