Father’s Day is coming up this Sunday, and while great dads deserve to be celebrated every day, this special occasion is the perfect reason to spend some extra quality time together.



Whether dad loves good food, live entertainment, sports, or simply hanging out with family, something is happening this weekend for everyone. Check out these fun options and make this Father’s Day one to remember.






On Friday



Music fans can experience Tribute to Legends at the Melico Salazar Theater in San José. Performed by the Universal Orchestra, the concert celebrates some of the biggest names in pop, soul, and funk from the 1980s and 1990s. The show honors legendary artists including Michael Jackson, Whitney Houston, Madonna, Lionel Richie, James Brown, and Bruno Mars, along with many other music icons. On Saturday and Sunday



 

Fans of Queen can enjoy an unforgettable musical experience this weekend when the Argentine band "God Save The Queen" takes the stage at the Melico Salazar Theater in San José. The group is known worldwide for recreating the energy and sound of the legendary British rock band. Audiences will hear classic hits including Bohemian Rhapsody, We Will Rock You, We Are the Champions, Another One Bites the Dust, Under Pressure, and many more. The Saturday performance begins at 7 p.m., while Sunday’s show starts at 5 p.m. Tickets are available at the theater box office and online through the Eticket website.

Food lovers can take a culinary trip north this weekend at the Canada Food Festival in San José’s Escalante District. Organized by the Canadian Embassy, the festival features a variety of traditional Canadian favorites, including Nanaimo bars, maple-marinated salmon, pizza, beverages, desserts, and much more. Participating restaurants include La Parrillada Argentina, Hoja de Plátano, Perséfone y Deméter, Olio, Vinoteca, Agüizotes, Ukelele, Dulce Junio, Loretto’s, Tapis y Tapas, Árbol de Seda, and Garden Bistró. No reservations are required, so visitors can simply show up and enjoy the flavors of Canada.





If Dad enjoys a good laugh, head over to
Lucho Barahona Theater in San José for the comedy "Everything Can Get Worse." The play follows a chain reaction of hilarious mishaps that begin with a small lie and quickly spiral into one outrageous catastrophe after another. Over at  Escenario Theater in San José, the comedy "Toc Toc" brings the laughs with a wild setup: a group of patients with obsessive-compulsive disorder stuck together in a waiting room. The Vargas Calvo Theater in San José is presenting the comedy "To the Moon." This heartwarming production is inspired by a grandmother’s memories of Apollo 11, the historic American mission that first landed humans on the Moon and became NASA’s fifth crewed Apollo mission. Tricycle Theater in San José is putting a fun twist on mystery with “Shear Madness,” based on the German play “Scherenschnitt” by Paul Pörtner. This interactive comedy drops you right into a unisex hair salon where a famous pianist upstairs gets murdered—and suddenly everyone’s a suspect. The Fuentes Gasca Circus is in town, and it’s bringing nonstop action all weekend in next to Santa Ana Megasuper supermarket in San José. Expect high-flying trapeze acts, sharp juggling, live music, dancers, and clowns that actually land the jokes. There’s just enough magic in the mix to keep things moving fast and fun. Shows run daily at 3 p.m., 5 p.m., and 7:30 p.m. Tickets are available right at the circus box office.




Embark on an unforgettable journey at
the Wildlife Rescue Center in Barrio San José, Alajuela. The Gold Museum in downtown San José presents an exhibition of Costa Rican bills and coins since 1850. Also, in the exhibit are the 700 pieces of handcrafted gold made by the first population in Costa Rica. The museum opens at 9 a.m.




The National Museum in downtown San José, presents an exhibition of Costa Rica's history and handmade artifacts, including some more than 12,000 years old, made by the first peoples of the region. Museum hours are from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
