Natalia Rae, a 33-year-old adult model and AVN/CAM star who gained popularity on MyFreeCams, has died while on vacation in Costa Rica, according to AVN.

Rae, who lived in Texas and was originally from Arizona, passed away on September 2. Just a day earlier, she had posted on Snapchat that she had slipped, injured her leg, and was recuperating in her hotel room.

The news of her death was shared by Rae’s sister, who did not reveal her name, in a heartfelt post on X (formerly Twitter).

“Hi all, this is Natalia’s sister, and I hate that I have to do this. While on vacation, living her best life as always, my light of a sister passed away,” the message read. “I know that she was as much a light in your life as she was in mine. I am so glad she was able to share that amazing, exciting side of herself with all of you.”

Rae’s sister also explained the family now faces the difficult task of bringing her body home from Costa Rica. A GoFundMe page has been created to help cover repatriation and funeral expenses.

“To make things so much worse, we were out of the country,” the post continued. “It’s not cheap to bring her home to her family, where she belongs, and we have had to start a GoFundMe to help bring her back. Anything you can contribute will help a lot to give her the service she deserves.”

As of this week, the fundraiser has collected more than $27,000.

Rae’s official cause of death has not yet been confirmed.

According to her X bio, Rae worked as a flight attendant for United, American, Delta, and Alaska Airlines before pursuing a full-time career as an independent cam model in 2019. She also held jobs ranging from spa owner to bartender at strip clubs, and even worked as a hair and makeup stylist during LA Fashion Week.

The U.S. Embassy assists U.S. citizens’ families in death cases. According to the embassy’s website, consular officials can help coordinate with local authorities, provide lists of funeral homes, and issue a Consular Report of Death Abroad, which serves as a U.S. death certificate for legal purposes.

However, the embassy does not cover funeral, repatriation, or burial costs. Families of Americans who die abroad are not required to travel to Costa Rica to manage arrangements, as embassy representatives can act on their behalf.

For more information, the embassy can be reached at +506-2519-2590 or +506-2519-2093. An after-hours emergency line is available at +506-2519-2000.

Rae death is among a string of recent tragedies involving American public figures in Costa Rica. In July, Malcolm-Jamal Warner, best known for playing Theo Huxtable on The Cosby Show, drowned while swimming off Playa Grande on the country’s Caribbean coast.
