Get ready for an exciting weekend packed with fun! From live concerts and captivating plays to vibrant festivals, cultural celebrations, and dazzling shows, there’s something for everyone to enjoy.

On Friday




The National Stadium in San José turns into the ultimate fitness hub with the Fitness Expo. You’ll find more than 100 brands of sportswear and athletic gear, plus sports demos, yoga sessions, healthy eats, and live entertainment all day long. Doors open at 9 a.m., and admission is free for everyone.




"Excuses" hits the stage at the Dance Theater of the Ministry of Culture in San José. This contemporary dance performance dives into raw emotions and tells its story through movement. The show starts at 7 p.m., and tickets are available at the theater box office.










On Friday and Sunday




The National Symphony Orchestra hits the stage at the National Theater in San José with Robert Schumann’s epic symphonic suite. Showtimes: Friday at 8 p.m., and Sunday at 10:30 a.m. Tickets are up for grabs at the box office or online.









On Saturday



Catch Echoes of Costa Rica, a folk music concert featuring the Alajuela Municipal Band. It all kicks off at 6 p.m. at the José Figueres Ferrer Cultural & Historical Center in Alajuela. Admission’s free.





The National Music School Orchestra of Los Santos is bringing their sound to the Rodeo Community Hall in San Marcos de Tarrazú. The concert begins at 10 a.m. and is completely free and open to everyone.




The Children’s Music Festival is taking over the Pococí Music Orchestra’s facilities in Limón. Expect a play area for the kids, live music, a dance show, and plenty of food trucks to keep you fueled. It all kicks off at 11:00 a.m., and admission is free.




The Philharmonic Orchestra brings a Billie Eilish Tribute Concert to the Melico Salazar Theater in San José. Get ready for a symphonic spin on Billie’s biggest hits, with special arrangements that mix her alternative pop style with the power of a full orchestra. There are two showtimes to choose from: 4 p.m. and 8 p.m. Tickets are available at the theater box office or online at One Ticket CR.




The Youth Big Band hits the stage at the National Theater in San José. Expect a lively mix of jazz, Latin American, Caribbean beats, and more. The show starts at 7 p.m., and admission is free.









On Sunday




 

Catch the San José City Band at the National Museum in San José, bringing a lively set of Latin American tunes. The concert begins at 11:00 a.m. and is open to everyone free of charge.




The Surrogate Band pays tribute to the legendary Pink Floyd at the Auditorio Nacional Theater, inside the Children’s Museum complex. Expect all the iconic hits performed live in a show you won’t forget. The concert starts at 5 p.m. Tickets are available at the theater box office or online at TicketBox.





The National Choir Festival takes over the National Theater in San José. Catch over 10 performances from choirs like Klio Coral, Coro Zafra, Concordia Coral, UNA University Choir, Estudio Choralia, and more. The festival kicks off at 5 p.m., and tickets are available at the theater box office or online through the theater’s website.








This Weekend





The National Arts Festival is pulling up in Guápiles and Guácimo, in Limón Province. The big kickoff goes down Friday at 5 p.m. on the main stage at El Salvador Soccer Plaza in Guápiles. Expect live music, theater, concerts, food trucks, games for the kids, and plenty more to keep the energy going all weekend. Best part? It’s all free and open to everybody. Check out "the Unbreakable Women" at the Bolsillo Theater in San José. The play brings together three legendary figures, Catherine, a young healer accused of witchcraft; Joan of Arc; and Anne Boleyn, locked in the same cell as they share their stories of how women have been silenced for centuries just for being different. Showtimes are 7:00 p.m. on Friday and Saturday. On Sunday, it begins at 6:00 p.m. Tickets are available at the theater box office.





Step right up to the Fuentes-Gasca Circus at the Chorotega Central Park in Cañas canton, Guanacaste. The dazzling show is filled with excitement and wonder. Witness incredible trapeze artists, captivating music, lively dance, talented jugglers, hilarious clowns, and magical acts. Performances are held daily at 3 p.m., 5 p.m., and 7:30 p.m. Tickets are available at the circus box office. Bring the whole family for an unforgettable circus experience.  





The Moliere Theater in San José shows the comedy play "Papichulo" (Handsome Daddy). The story follows a thief who ends up in all kinds of crazy trouble while trying to rob a house full of women. Showtimes:  Friday and Saturday at 8 p.m. and Sunday at 7 p.m. Tickets are $15 and can be purchased at the theater box office.





Head to the Lucho Barahona Theater in San José is serving up laughs with "Rent An Aunt," a comedy set in the 18th century. The story follows the Count of Villalpando’s family and all the wild chaos that breaks out when everyone’s chasing a big inheritance. Showtimes: Friday & Saturday at 8 p.m., Sunday at 6 p.m. Tickets are available at the theater box office.






Get ready for laughs at the Triciclo Theater in San José with "Suegras Bárbaras" (Crazy Mothers-in-Law). This hilarious comedy follows a couple on vacation who, thanks to an unexpected twist, find themselves having to bring their mother-in-law along for the ride. Performances are at 8 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, and at 5 p.m. on Sunday. Tickets are available at the theater box office.

The Art Museum in downtown La Sabana, San José, presents private collections of Latin American artists. The museum is open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Ticket is $15.



 



The Gold Museum in downtown San José presents an exhibition of Costa Rican bills and coins since 1850. Also, in the exhibit are the 700 pieces of handcrafted gold made by the first population in Costa Rica. The museum opens at 9 a.m. Ticket is $15.
