Massachusetts-based company, Teradyne, announced an investment of $20 million for its expansion of operations in its Costa Rica facilities branch.

According to the firm, they will occupy a new 11,000-square meter building in the Coyol Free Zone, in Alajuela Province. This move is part of the expansion plan of the company to increase its operations in the country as well as its Research and Development (R&D) capabilities.

“Costa Rica has demonstrated for years to have a unique and highly competitive talent, sustained by an attitude of commitment, excellence and team spirit that characterizes Costa Ricans, as well as by the academic foundations that support the training of our professionals," Carlos Esquivel, General Manager of Teradyne de Costa Rica said. "This attractive local talent is responsible for the growth of Teradyne de Costa Rica during 20 years of presence in our territory, and the reason why the corporation constantly shows interest to continue incorporating new business units to our operation, offering greater value to the company."

Teradyne Costa Rica reports a 384 workers staff, which it expects to increase by 75% once it completes its relocation process. This increase will be mainly reflected in positions for professionals in information technology, development of artificial intelligence algorithms, hardware and software engineering, development of manufacturing processes applied to the introduction of new products, repair and customer service, among others.

People interested to apply for an open position, should visit the company Jobs site.

Teradyne is the fourth U.S. Company announcing investment in Costa Rica this month.

On Monday, the Texas-based company, National Instruments Corporation, NI, announced they’re investing $2.8 million in the expansion and renovation of its facilities in the country.

Last week, the Michigan-based company, Stryker, announced it will establish a global procurement center in the San Antonio Business Park in Heredia.

Early August, the Tennessee-based company, Bridgestone Americas, announced the investment of $2 million on expanding operations of its Firestone Industrial Products air springs production plant in Turrialba Canton, Cartago Province.

Although these companies are offering several jobs, Costa Rica remains with an 18.1% unemployment rate, according to the National Employment Survey. The survey reveals that there are approximately more than 434,000 people without registered jobs in the country from April to June 2021.
