Police find hundreds of packages of
marijuana dumped in mangroves

The Border Police seized a shipment of marijuana that was dumped in the mangrove area near the mouth of the Claro river in the Corcovado National Park, Osa Peninsula, Puntarenas Province.

According to the police report, during a patrol in the area, officers found 18 large bags, seven packages and 56 projectiles allegedly used for the AK-47 assault rifle in the mangroves.

The team from the National Coast Guard Service and the Drug Control Police seized the drugs. After carrying out the detailed review of the cargo, the agents reported 907 marijuana packages weighing approximately 500 grams each, totaling 453 kilograms.

The judicial agents call on the population to report any suspicion of drug cargo or trafficking to the confidential line 800-8000-645, where there are bilingual agents who can answer calls in English or Spanish.
