Driving related fines continue on an upswing, despite the ban-on-driving rule, imposed by the government to try to stop the spread of covid-19. The driving restrictions were expected to result in fewer vehicles on the roads. However, between January and July, there were 2,393 drivers fined for reckless driving and breaking the traffic law, according to the traffic police report During those seven months, 1,575 drivers were fined $80 for the incorrect use of their lights, for example, indicator hazard turn signals lights or when motorcyclists didn't turn on the day front lights. In that same period, 611 drivers were fined $180 for carrying excessive cargo or when the cargo blocked the vehicle license plates. Also, 145 drivers were fined $180 for driving on sidewalks. In addition, 48 drivers received the same fine for disrespecting the pedestrian crossing zone.
