Vehicle owners whose license plates were seized by traffic officers could recover them through home delivery services provided by Correos de Costa Rica, the state delivery-services company. According to the Road Safety Council, Cosevi, drivers should no longer request an appointment in their facilities to recover the plates. Vehicle owners have the option to fill out an online form on the Council's website in the option of Correos de Costa Rica home delivery services. Before recovering the plates, all fines must be paid. Plus there is a delivery fee of a maximum of $7, depending on the distance between La Uruca and the driver's home. The expected delivery time is between 1 to 3 days. In an initial plan, this service was available only for people whose vehicle plates are in custody at the Council offices in Uruca Industrial zone in San José Province. The authorities plan to extend this service to the rest of the country in the coming months.  However, the Cybercrime Prosecutor's Office advises to be cautious when requesting the home delivery service. There has been an influx of email scams using the brand of Correos de Costa Rica. If the plate's owner does not want this express service, they may request an appointment to go in person to recover the plates. This option is on the same Council website. One of the most common fines is the payment of about $180 for breaking the ban on driving rules. According to statements by Edwin Herrera, director of the Council, since the ban on driving began in March 2020, the accumulated amount of fines is approximately $2.7 million. The money collected by the fines must be delivered to the National Emergency Commission for the attention of the crisis caused by the pandemic, following the National Decree of Sanitary Emergency. ------------------------ Have you heard of expats facing problems in recovering their seized vehicle plates?
