Mexico city-based Grupo Bimbo, one of the world’s largest baking companies, is expanding its operations in Costa Rica. “I am proud to announce that Bimbo Global Services in Costa Rica is ready to be transformed into a multifunctional hub for North America, evolving towards becoming a strategic Center of Excellence," Jazmín Alvarado, Vice President of Bimbo Global Services in Costa Rica said. "Bimbo Global Services’ evolution has been driven mainly by the diverse talent of our associates and our agility to embrace continuous improvement and innovation.” According to the firm, they are increasing its Finance, Accounting and Human Resources Recruiting Services, among other areas. The company is offering more than 50 job vacancies in Costa Rica to be part of the more than 1,000 employees. The firm is hiring bilingual people (speak English or French). Established in 2015 in Zeta Industrial Zone in Heredia Province, Bimbo provides support to several internal financial processes that support the firm’s English-speaking Business Units, primarily Canada, the United States, and the United Kingdom. According to the Costa Rican Investment Promotion Agency, in Latin America, Costa Rica leads exports of knowledge-intensive services, as these represent 7.6% of gross domestic product compared to other nations whose percentages are between about 1.3% and 3%. Grupo Bimbo has 202 bakeries and other processing plants and around 1,600 sales centers strategically located in 33 countries throughout the Americas, Europe, Asia and Africa. Bimbo is one of many companies announcing this month an expansion of its operations in Costa Rica.
