Electroplast, a Costa Rican company that designs medical device components, will transfer its operations beginning in the second quarter of 2021 to La Ceiba Industrial Park, located in Orotina.

The company will invest more than $9 million in remodeling, expanding its industrial warehouse, and transferring its operations, which will soon occupy a space of 8,000 square meters (86,000 ft2), said the Costa Rican Investment Promotion Agency (CINDE).

The company has 35 years of experience in the market or high-quality parts to the health sciences industry, which represents the most dynamic sector of the national economy. "At Electroplast, we know that this effort reflects the promise we have made to our clients to pursue continuous improvements and, at the same time, it also allows us to offer new employment opportunities in the region," said Diego Vicente, General Manager of Electroplast.

Companies located in free-trade zones represent transactions that are key to economic revitalization, as they generate employment, secure supply chains, and guarantee exports, specialists said.

“In recent years, industrial parks have moved toward locations outside the GAM," said Bernal Rodríguez from AB Advisory. "This makes it possible for companies to take advantage of additional tax benefits offered by Costa Rica’s Free-Trade Zone Law. Additionally, and in this specific case, La Ceiba Industrial Park is located on Route 27, less than one hour to Juan Santamaría International Airport.”

The Greater Metropolitan Area (GAM) includes cities englobed in the conurbation of San José such as Alajuela, Heredia and Cartago.

The company Electroplast will hire 150 new employees consisting of engineers, technicians, and floor operators. People interested may send their resume by email, empleo@electroplast.com.

Another company hiring is the france based Teleperformance, will hire 335 people within the next three months, due to business expansion in Costa Rica.

Positions to be hired are related to bilingual and trilingual customer service in English, French, German, and Portuguese; technical support positions will also be available.

The company has more than 10 years in Costa Rica, specializes in outsourced omnichannel customer experience management, also known as Business Process Outsourcing (BPO).

Currently has 1,400 employees and operations in six languages (Spanish, English, French, Italian, Portuguese, and German), servicing four continents.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Trade, in the last decade, Costa Rica's services exports have increased by a 7.3% annual average growth rate, reaching a record figure of US $9.503 billion in 2019.

Today, the country is home to 178 services sector companies that employ a cumulative total of 72,500 people; in 2019 alone, 6,491 new jobs were generated, 40% of which were occupied by women, CINDE said in its statement.

The opportunities to get a job decrease, due to the crisis that the country is experiencing.

In July, the country's unemployment rate rose to 20.1%, according to the Continuous Employment Survey of the National Institute of Surveys and Censuses.
