A police K-9 detected packages of cocaine  hidden in a secret compartment located under the floor of a car during a road control stop in Golfito Canton, Puntarenas Province.

According to the police report, during a routine road control operation that was being carried out in the Guaycará area in Golfito, the driver of a sedan-type vehicle was asked to park on the side of the road.

During the search, the K-9 detected traces of drugs in the vehicle. On a more precise search, officers found an area that had been modified on the floor of the front seats.

With the help of specialists from the Drug Control Police, a cargo was found with 27 rectangular packages of cocaine, weighing approximately one kilo each, hidden in a secret compartment on the floor of the vehicle.

Officers seized the drugs, the vehicle, and cash for the evidence in the case.

The suspect was taken to the cells of the Public Ministry where he was interrogated by the judicial agents. He must wait until a judge orders the pre-trial measures against him for alleged drug transport.

The judicial agents call on the people of Costa Rica to report any suspicion of transportation or drug sales to the confidential line 800-8000-645. Bilingual agents are available to answer calls in English or Spanish.
