The Costa Rican Institute of Tourism, ICT, announced the extension of the rescheduling or moratorium on payment of tourist taxes for companies that have not been able to make payments due to liquidity problems.

According to the institute, the rescheduling includes the declaration of taxes from July to September 2020, in the case of taxes known as 5%-a and 5%-b. In addition to the months of July to September 2020, in the tax of $15.

The institute charges a 5% tax, known as 5% -a that is applied to tickets sold in Costa Rica for any international trip.

The other 5% tax, known as 5% -b, is for the sale of each air ticket that originates in Costa Rica sold abroad.

Also, the institute collects the $15 tax for the entrance of each tourist by air, with a ticket purchased abroad. The money generated by this tax is used by the institute "for its operation and the promotion of the country," they said.
