covid-19 diagnostic test kits By the A.M. Costa Rica staff A Costa Rican doctor, who was on a humanitarian aid flight from Colombia, was detained for having 80 diagnostic test kits for covid-19 in his luggage, the Health Ministry reported Tuesday. According to the ministry, the man was detained by the Police of the Surveillance Area of the Juan Santamaría International Airport in Alajuela Province. Officials from the General Directorate of Customs seized medical evidence valued at $2,800. In addition to the seizure of the kits, the authorities opened an investigation before the Prosecutor's Office of the Medical College. In Costa Rica, the importation of diagnostic test kits for covid-19 is legal, however, they must comply with the guideline ordered by the Ministry of Health. "The health registry requirements for medical equipment must be met, which guarantee the effectiveness of the product, a determining factor in tests of this type," the ministry said in its statement. In this case, a file was opened against the doctor for smuggling medical supplies. --------------------- Have you heard of the sale of medical tests for the diagnosis of covid-19 in your community?
