imported 6,352,755 vaccines against
covid-19, announced to the National
Emergency Commission.
The most recent shipment containing 134,550 doses of Pfizer vaccines arrived on a DHL cargo at 1 a.m. today at the Juan Santamarķa International Airport. These are part of the 4,326,305 Pfizer doses imported. The country purchased 6,001,125 Pfizer vaccines to inoculate more than 3 million people. The country also imported 775,200 doses of AstraZeneca vaccines as part of the 1,000,000 purchased doses for the treatment of more than 500,000 people. In addition, the government has received 259,350 doses through COVAX, which includes approved vaccines, such as AstraZeneca, Pfizer and Moderna. The country purchased 2,037,600 doses to provide treatment to more than one million people. ![]() Early this month, the country has received 69,600 doses of AstraZeneca donated by the government of Spain. ![]() Another 319,200 AstraZeneca doses were donated by Canada. ![]() In July, 503,100 doses of Pfizer vaccines were donated by the U.S. The total vaccines purchased and donated to Costa Rica are about 10,065,175. This total could protect more than 5 million people living in the country. As of this week, 5,278,407 vaccines against covid-19 were applied in Costa Rica. This week, the President Carlos Alvarado announced a new donation of 50,000 doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine by Austria. What should the government do to speed up the vaccination campaign?
