will donate 50,000 doses of the
AstraZeneca vaccine against covid-19,
President Carlos Alvarado said on
Wednesday.
![]() The announcement was made after the meeting between Alvarado and the Federal President Alexander Van der Bellen, during a work tour in New York, USA. Alvarado did not provide information on a specific day the donation is expected to arrive. ![]() Austria is the fourth country to donate vaccines to Costa Rica. On Sunday, Sept. 5, the 69,600 doses of AstraZeneca donated by the government of Spain arrived in Costa Rica. The donation was coordinated through the Covid-19 Vaccines Global Access mechanism, COVAX, of the World Health Organization, WHO. The vaccines helped inoculate approximately 34,800 people, the National Emergency Commission said. ![]() On Saturday, Sept. the shipment of 319,200 AstraZeneca doses donated by Canada arrived in the country. This donation allowed for 159,600 people to get inoculated. The donation was also coordinated through the COVAX mechanism. ![]() On Tuesday, July 13, the U.S.- donated 503,100 doses of Pfizer vaccines arrived in the country. And immediately applied to approximately 251,550 people. Costa Rica has imported 6,218,205 vaccines against covid-19, according to the National Emergency Commission. ![]() As of Tuesday, there are 5,278,407 vaccines against covid-19 applied in Costa Rica, according to the health authorities' report. -------------------- What have you heard about another country donating vaccines against covid-19 approved by WHO?
