By the A.M. Costa Rica staff Construction for the new cardiology specialty clinic that will be located in the city of San Carlos, Alajuela Province, will begin next week, according to Social Security. Costing more than $1.9 million, the clinic was funded with a donation from the Social Protection Board, a public entity in charge of managing lottery games in Costa Rica. The public clinic will attend patients from the northern zone of that province, specifically the cantons of San Carlos, Los Chiles, Guatuso and Río Cuarto. The construction area of the clinic is estimated at 571 square meters near the current San Carlos hospital. Authorities estimate that the clinic will be inaugurated next year. Despite the economic and health crisis caused by the covid-19 pandemic, Social Security continues to advance in the construction of public clinics. Recently, two new community clinics were inaugurated in the indigenous zone of Talamanca Canton, Limón Province. -------------------------- What have you heard about the lack of public medical services in your community?
