Canadian government donates
$200,000- plus for health workers

The Government of Canada donated $215,123 to Costa Rican medical workers for the purchase of medical supplies, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced Monday.

Minister Rodolfo Solano- Quirós thanked the Canadian Foreign Minister, François-Philippe Champagn, for the "timely and supportive donation." The minister also thanked the Canadian government for their cooperation in the repatriation of several Costa Ricans who lived in their northern country.

The donation will be distributed among the health workers of the National Emergency Commission, Social Security and the General Directorate of Migration.

According to the ministry, protective equipment will be purchased for Social Security workers, for workers in the mobile Hospital that was installed on the Nicaraguan border, and to give financial aid to civil organizations related to the defense of Human Rights.

Canada's cooperation was managed by the Embassy of Costa Rica in Canada, the office of Global Affairs Canada and the Embassy of Canada in Costa Rica.
