A new drinking water storage tank valued at over $580,000 was built in La Palmera District, San Carlos Canton, Alajuela Province.
According to the Rural Development Institute, the cost of the project exceeded $525,000, which was covered by the institute's budget. Everything else was paid for by local Drinking Water Associations, known as Asada.
The giant 500 cubic meter tank will provide the vital liquid to about 5,000 of the communities of Santa Rosa, Corte, Cárcel, Cocaleca, Aurora, Palomo, Palmera Centro, Amargura, San Rafael and Concepción. The water improvement project guarantees drinking water for the next 20 years, authorities said.
