P&G will hire 150 people by 2020

Procter & Gamble announced Tuesday it is increasing its presence in the country and hiring 150 more workers by 2020 in the areas of information technology, finance and logistics.

The announcement was made during P&G's celebration of its 20th anniversary in the country.

In its first phase, the company began as a financial services center for the Americas.

Later in 2008, the international firm opened a business transformation IT center for the Americas focused on reinventing best business practices by aligning processes, people and technology around the world to reduce operating costs and add value at the corporate level, it said.

In 2013 the company opened its Supply Chain Planning Center for Latin America, which supports processes in various areas such as demand, projections, materials and distribution, among others, for more than 40 countries in the region.

"Procter & Gamble is one of the world's largest and most renowned companies, not only for the quantity of products it handles, but also for its ethical standards and the quality of its people, “ said Costa Rican President Carlos Alvarado-Quesada, who attended the anniversary ceremony. “P&G is recognized as having one of the best practices in marketing, business, logistics and finance.“

According to Alvarado, a company to have built 20 years of trust in Costa Rica and its talent, with its largest service and logistics center supporting the entire region, is a source of pride for the country because it speaks highly of Costa Rica's human resources globally.

P&G makes consumer products company. More than 1,500 employees currently work in Costa Rica in areas of business administration, accounting, finance, technology solutions, engineering, logistics and procurement, among others.

Another international firms announced  more hiring in Costa Rica Nov. 20. That is the Canadian firm Bill Gosling Outsourcing, a global business processing outsourcing provider, which opened in Heredia.

"We are excited to extend our operations to Costa Rica, providing a quality nearshore option to our North American clients,“ said Dave Rae, CEO of Bill Gosling Outsourcing. “We chose Costa Rica for their highly educated bilingual workforce, IT infrastructure and proximity to North America."

According to the Canadian company, Costa Rica's renowned reputation for economic stability has allowed the country to transform itself into a key market for many top companies to set up operations.

"As we continue to evolve our tech-based solutions, we want to ensure that we can deliver a consistent quality of work in all locations with our live-agent and technology services, “ said Kenny Johnston, president of Bill Gosling Outsourcing. " For many reasons, we felt Costa Rica was the perfect location to start our expansion into the Latam market."

According to Bill Gosling, with a literacy rate of 97.98%, Costa Rica ranks No. 1 in Latin America in skills of graduates and current and future workforce.

Many of the Forbes Top 100 companies have recently opened up research and development labs and other operations in the country to take advantage of the multi-talented bilingual workforce available, the firm noted.

“Additionally, Costa Rica now runs 99.99% on renewable energy and boasts three fiber-optic submarine cables that give stability and security to their telecommunications infrastructure,” said the firm in its announcement.

This site in Costa Rica will provide approximately 300 new jobs in customer care, accounts receivable, and other support roles.
