The three major airlines that operate flights between Canada and Costa Rica have recently announced an increase in the number of flights offered in anticipation of the upcoming high tourism season, which is set to begin in December.
As per the information provided by the Daniel Oduber International Airport (LIR), also known as Guanacaste Airport, there is an increase in the number of flights commencing from October onwards.
Starting Oct. 25, WestJet will be operating seven weekly flights between Liberia International Airport (LIR) and Lester B. Pearson International Airport (YYZ) in Toronto, which is an increase from their previous five flights per week.
WestJet also increased the number of weekly flights between LIR and Calgary International Airport (YYC) from three to four starting on Oct. 31. More information on the new flights will soon be enabled on WestJet's website.
Another airline, Air Canada announced that as of Dec. 14, they will be increasing its flight frequency to seven per week between LIR and YYZ. This is good news for travelers looking for more options when flying between these two destinations. Information on new flights will soon be available on the Air Canada website.
Similarly,
as of Dec. 21, Air Transat increased
to four weekly flights between LIR and
YYZ. Additionally,
Air Transat announced that starting
Dec. 12, they will introduce a new
weekly flight connecting LIR and
Montréal–Trudeau International Airport
(YUL). The
airline will publish the new flight
information soon on its website. But it's
not just Canadian airlines increasing
flights to Costa Rica. Recently,
Delta Airlines, a major U.S.-based
airline headquartered in Atlanta,
Georgia, launched new flights
between the U.S. and Costa Rica. Tourism
is one of the most important economic
sectors in Costa Rica. As of
June, more than 1,338,000 tourists
have visited the country. The
number marks a new record compared to
the 1,336,000 visitors registered in
the country in the same period in
2019, the year before the covid-19
pandemic. --------
