The Wine Expo 2019 will be held this Friday and Saturday at the National Convention Center* in the province of Heredia.

'Expo Vino' is the event that brings together distributors, producers, and consumers of wine. This year will feature local and international wine brands. The invited countries are the U.S., Germany, Spain, Argentina, France, and Italy.

"Wine producers will exhibit their best brands so people have the opportunity to meet, taste, and choose from the best wines in the world," Expo Vino in its statement said.

In addition to wine tasting, people can eat typical foods from other countries, such as hot dogs made with German Bratwurst sausage, or Costa Rican Corralones canned fruits without preservatives.

Among national producers, other international brands being represented are:

- George Muller from Germany.

- Gallo, Silver Oak, Service Innovation, Michael David Winery, 689 Cellars, The Fableist Wine Company, Sans Liege Wines, Huneeus Vintners, and Hahn Family Wines, from the U.S.

- Martoccia di Brunelli, Monte Tondo, Tenuta Piccini, Casa Vinícola Zonin and San Rocco, from Italy

Ticket prices are between $45 to $55, which includes a glass and access to the wine tasting.

On Sunday the exhibition will include a concert by singer Kurt Dyer.

According to the International Vine and Wine Organization, the world wine consumption in 2018 was more than 24 million liters.

The countries with the highest consumption of wine per capita are the Vatican with 71.25 and Norfolk Island with 58.35.

The UK consumes 19.65 liters per capita, Canada 14.07 liters, the U.S. 10.14 liters, and Costa Rica 1.68 liters.
