Verba Shadow and Comic-Con shows in Costa Rica

Two very popular international shows will be held in Costa Rica in March and July.
 The first is the Verba Shadow Show, which will be presented at the Melico Salazar Popular Theater, in San José Centro March 21 and 22.
Verba Shadow Show has become worldwide famous after being one of the best artistic acts presented at Americas Got Talent Show in the U.S., the X-Factor in the U.K and Ukraine´s Got Talent.
Verba Shadow is a presentation of artists who develop the so-called shadow theater technique. The show combining the effects of light and shadow with acrobatics, dance and acting while forming spectacular figures with their own bodies to tell interesting stories.
In Costa Rica, artists come as part of a tour in Latin America. Among the stories that are presented are representations of “Frozen,” “Game of Thrones,” “Harry Potter,” among many others.
Verba Shadow was founded by a group of Ukrainian athletes, Katalin Torda, Alexandra Tóth, Norbert Fehér, Andrea Lakatos, Zoltán Szűcs, Csaba Szentinek, Flóra Szabados and Janka Kántor.
Videos of the art shows can be seen on the Verva YouTube channel. Tickets are priced between $45 to $90 and can be purchased on the Eticket.cr site.
 Fans of science fiction and superhero comics will have a good reason to wear appropriate dress at Comic Com Costa Rica, which will take place at Parque Viva Amphitheater in Ajaluela from July 4 to 5.
This is the first time Comic Com Costa Rica presented actors and artists from famous series such as “The Lord of the Rings,” Marvel movies, DC Comics, “Ninja Turtles” or “The Hunger Games.”
Among the famous artists that will be presented at the comic story fan convention will be:
- British actor John Rhys-Davies, known for his portrayal of Gimli and the voice of Treebeard in the “Lord of the Rings” trilogy, Sallah in the Indiana Jones films and Cmdr. Hammerstock-Smythe in “The Medallion.”
Rhys also played Michael Malone in “The Untouchables,” Vasco Rodrigues in “Shōgun,” Professor Maximillian Arturo in “Sliders,” King Richard I in “Robin of Sherwood,” General Leonid Pushkin in the James Bond film “The Living Daylights,” and Macro in “I am Claudius.”
The British actor has provided the voices of Cassim in “Aladdin and the King of Thieves,” Ranjan's father in “The Jungle Book 2,” Man Ray in “SpongeBob SquarePants,” Hades in “Justice League” and Tobias in the computer game “Freelancer,” among many others.
- Alan Ritchson, the U.S. actor is known for his portrayals of Aquaman on the CW's “Smallville,” Thad Castle on Spike TV's “Blue Mountain State.” Ritchson also starred as Gloss in the 2013 “The Hunger Games,” Raphael in the 2014 “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles” reboot, and its sequel, “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows,” and Adam in the 2016 “Lazer Team.” In 2018, he portrayed Hank Hall/Hawk on the series “Titans.”
- Sam de la Rosa, the U.S. cartoonist and graphic designer who has worked with Marvel, DC Comics and Dark House for projects such as “The Amazing Spider-Man” and “Venom.”
- José Luis Durán, the Mexican cartoonist who became the first Latino to illustrate SpiderMan comic magazines.
Among Costa Rican illustrators artist Dan Mora will be featured. He is a cartoonist for firms such as Marvel and DC Comics in the X-Men Gold and Super Sons comics.
In addition to the presentations of the illustrators and actors, activities are also organized for comic fans who usually arrive at the show dressed as their favorite characters.
Tickets are priced at $25 for one day access or $35 for two days access. They can be bought at Comic Com Costa Rica site.

This Saturday there is a performance by international singers leading rock stars, P. Shortino of Quiet Riot, Bobby
Kimball of Toto, Alex Ligertwood of Santana, Fran
Cosmo of Boston, Jimy Sohns of Shadows of the Knight,
and D. Tufano of Buckinghams.
The singers also will perform at
Parque Viva amphitheater
in Alajuela as part of their Rockpack Festival tour.
"Original leader singers of great bands of the 70s and
80s, like Quiet Riot, Toto, Santana and Boston will
perform the hits with their original singers," said
the Hit-After-Hit firm in charge of the festival
organization. "It will be almost two hours of singing
hit after hit."
According to the organizers, fans of classic rock will
enjoy the greatest hits as “Cum on Feel the Noize,”
“Hold the Line,” “Hold On” and “More Than A
Feeling,” among many more.
Ticket prices vary between $34 to $100, depending on
the location to the stage. The concert starts at 6
p.m., but the doors to the amphitheater will be open

Also on March 18 another rock band performance in
Costa Rica will be Guns N ’Roses at
Saprissa Stadium in Tibás
as part of its Not in This Lifetime tour. Ticket
prices are between $55 to $115, depending on the
proximity to the stage, and they can be purchased at Eticket.cr
This will be the second concert that the band gives in
the country. The first concert of vocalist Axl Rose,
lead guitarist Slash, bassist Duff McKagan, and
drummer Steven Adler was in November 2016.
"It will be a unique opportunity for fans to be closer
to the band and feel the power of their music more
intensely," said Mercury Concerts, which is
responsible for bringing the band to the country.
Opera lover will enjoy the Il Divo vocal group
performing in Costa Rica as part of the Timeless
Encore tour, which will be March 24 at
Parque Viva amphitheater
in Alajuela.
In the unique concert, the top singers, Urs Bühler
from Switzerland, Carlos Marín from Spain, David
Miller from the U.S. and Sébastien Izambard from
France, will be accompanied by the music of the
National Philharmonic Orchestra.
According to the information provided by the group's
official webpage, Il Divo group was created in 2003
and promoted by music producer Simon Cowell for the
label Syco Music.
Il Divo has sold well over 30 million copies of its
albums worldwide. With 160 certified gold and platinum
hits in 35 countries, it pioneered the genre of
operatic pop or popera in classical crossover music.
The tickets for the concert are between $100 to $170,
which can be purchased at
Eticket.cr site. The music
of Il Divo can be reached at the group's
YouTube channel.
Another highly expected international classic rock
band that will be performing in Costa Rica is KISS.
The musicians are Paul Stanley, Gene Simmons, Eric
Singer and Tommy Thayer, and concert tickets are on
sale for the only performance that the iconic KISS
band will give in Costa Rica. That will be April 28,
at
National Stadium.
The band will offer VIP meet-and-greet experiences,
for which tickets can be purchased through the
site
Kissonline.com. The other
ticket options will be available at
Eticketcr site. Tickets
will have different prices, depending on the area of
the stadium, from $50 to $175.
