U.S. company opens
operations in Costa Rica

California-based Nevro Corp, a global medical device company, announced the opening of its global manufacturing operations in Costa Rica on Tuesday.
The firm is a global medical device company focused on providing medical products as the Senza spinal cord stimulation system, a non-pharmacologic neuromodulation platform for the treatment of chronic pain.
"Nevro has been successful through its early years with outsourced manufacturing and highly supportive supply chain partners," said D. Keith Grossman, Chairman, CEO and President of Nevro. "As part of our growth plans to keep moving forward, Nevro is establishing insourced global manufacturing for its pipeline of future products to ensure that we have the most efficient cost structure and flexible capacity while maintaining the highest level of quality control as we scale."
The company established its 41,000 square foot manufacturing facility in the Coyol Free Zone, in Alajuela Province, with an expected investment of approximately $21 million from 2020-2023, according to the Costa Rican Investment Promotion Agency, CINDE.

This is the fifth US company announcing an increase in its operations in Costa Rica in less than three months.
In November, the Rosamond-California and India Based CSS Corp announced its expansion and more vacancies for jobs open in Costa Rica.
The IT Services and Technology Support company has currently 760 employees that deliver enterprise and B2B tech support services. The company is looking for another 100 professionals to join them within the next 3 months.
CSS Corp launched its first center in Latin America in Costa Rica in 2013, to cater to the steadily rising demand from clients in the region and globally for multi-lingual tech support capabilities.
The two facilities in Costa Rica, in Heredia and Cartago Provinces, provide services in Spanish, English, French, Italian, German and Portuguese.
CSS is recruiting candidates with English language skills of 85% (B2+), one year of experience in consumer tech support, or one year experience in TAC/Security. Interested candidates can apply by emailing costarica.jobs@csscorp.com or the company CCS/jobs site.
Also in October, Concentrix, a subsidiary of California-based SYNNEX Corporation announced the opening of a new branch in the country.
As part of its expansion plans, Concentrix Costa Rica, which has operated since 2005, is now opening its fifth location in the country located in Real Cariari Canton, in Heredia Province.
The company's new location offers approximately 450 new jobs as well as includes three new clients working from there. Common areas include a cafeteria, medical services, and a games area.
Concentrix opened its first branch in the country 15 years ago. It is one of almost 180 international service companies located in Costa Rica.
With more than 24 Fortune 500 clients in Costa Rica, the company offers its services in 5 different languages through email, chat, voice and back office.
The firm announced the opening of 1,300 job vacancies in its Costa Rican branch. People interested in applying should visit its Careers website and apply to the job that best matches their professional profile.
In October as well, Atlanta, Georgia-based Equifax opened 100 new jobs in its Global Shared Services branch located in Zona Franca Metropolitana, Heredia Province.
Currently, Equifax employs approximately 1,300 people across two organizations: the Commercial Team that offers data analysis products and services to the local market, and a Shared Services organization that provides support to Equifax operations around the world.
The recruiting process to fill these 100 new positions in the Bilingual Customer Service area is already underway. Interested candidates can apply through their Careers site.
Equifax is a global data, analytics, and technology company that has been in Costa Rica for 25 years. At a global level, the company employs more than 76,000 people in 24 countries.
And also in October, the New Jersey-based GEP, a services sector company announced open vacancies to its services center located in Lindora Park, San José Province.
Among the job opportunities, some positions require no prior experience and will develop functions in the areas of purchasing, provisioning, and supply chain. The company will also hire administrative and operational positions.
Interested personnel must be bilingual in English and Spanish, as they will serve the U.S. market. For some of the positions, Portuguese (as a third language) is also required.

GEP company was founded in 1999 and currently has 21 branches in 5 continents. In Latin America, offices are located in Mexico, Costa Rica, and Brazil. The company consists of more than 3,500 employees providing services in 23 different languages. In Costa Rica, the Delivery Center attends clients located in the U.S.
As these new companies expand in the country, unemployment continues to be one of the most critical issues in the country. According to the Employment Survey, from June to August, of the National Institute of Statistics and Census, the unemployment rate was at 23.2%, meaning the unemployed population reached 544,000 people.
