company expands
operations in Costa Rica By the A.M. Costa Rica staff Concentrix, a subsidiary of California-based SYNNEX Corporation announced the opening of a new branch in the country. As part of its expansion plans, Concentrix Costa Rica, which has operated since 2005, is now opening its fifth location in the country located in Real Cariari Canton, in Heredia Province. According to the Costa Rican Investment Promotion Agency, CINDE, the company's new location offers approximately 450 new jobs as well as includes three new clients working from there. Common areas include a cafeteria, medical services, and a games area. Concentrix opened its first branch in the country 15 years ago. It is one of almost 180 international service companies located in Costa Rica. With more than 24 Fortune 500 clients in Costa Rica, the company offers its services in 5 different languages through email, chat, voice and back office. In September, the firm announced the opening of 1,300 job vacancies in its Costa Rican branch. This is the third U.S. company announcing open vacancies in Costa Rica this month. On Oct. 22, Atlanta, Georgia-based Equifax is opening 100 new jobs in its Global Shared Services branch located in Zona Franca Metropolitana, Heredia Province. ![]() Currently, Equifax employs approximately 1,300 people across two organizations: the Commercial Team that offers data analysis products and services to the local market, and a Shared Services organization that provides support to Equifax operations around the world. The recruiting process to fill these 100 new positions in the Bilingual Customer Service area is already underway. Interested candidates can apply through their Careers site. Equifax is a global data, analytics, and technology company that has been in Costa Rica for 25 years. At a global-level the company employs more than 76,000 people in 24 countries. On Oct. 21, New Jersey-based GEP, a services sector company announced open vacancies to its services center located in Lindora Park, San José Province. ![]() Among the job opportunities, some positions require no prior experience and will develop functions in the areas of purchasing, provisioning, and supply chain. The company will also hire administrative and operational positions. Interested personnel must be bilingual in English and Spanish, as they will serve the U.S. market. For some of the positions, Portuguese (as a third language) is also required. Candidates interested in applying for a job at GEP can do so directly at GEPCR jobs site to view available positions. Services sector companies are a source of employment for young professionals who graduate from our public and private universities. The average age of workers in this sector is 30 years old and it is estimated that 85% are graduates of public schools, said CINDE. GEP company was founded in 1999, and currently has 21 branches in 5 continents. In Latin America, offices are located in Mexico, Costa Rica, and Brazil. The company consists of more than 3,500 employees providing services in 23 different languages. In Costa Rica, the Delivery Center attends clients located in the U.S. As these new companies expand in the country, unemployment continues to one of the most critical issues in the country.
