Costa Rica staff Searchers found a U.S. citizen surnamed Young, who had lost his way in Saturday in the forest of Rincon de la Vieja National Park in Guanacaste. The monitoring department of the Costa Rican Red Cross and the Ministry of Security confirmed this Sunday. According to the Red Cross report, Saturday an emergency call was received about a man who was touring the park's trails. "He supposedly entered the park together with another group of tourists. However in the afternoon, the group realized that Young was lost," said the Red Cross. Both park rangers and Red Cross rescuers carried the search operation on Saturday. However "due to bad weather conditions, the rescue operation continued until the next day," said the Red Cross Young was found Sunday morning near a river branch within the wooded area of the park. According to the Red Cross, the man was contacted by paramedics, and he was in good health conditions after spending the night in the forest. "He said he was walking on the trails and did not realize when he was lost. He refused medical attention and did not want to be carried to any hospital." Park rangers will continue the investigation to find the people who were part of the tour group and determine if they entered the part illegally. Monday, the National System of Conservation Areas and the Tourism Institute called on travelers to make tourism responsibly. According to the authorities, the entry and stay of people in unauthorized areas within the national parks and along paths within the forest represent a high danger and risk due to the possible attack of animals. "The only legal access to the public use areas of the national parks, are those officially established," said the National Park System in its statement. According to the authorities, the advertising campaign entitled Responsible Tourist, "was developed to inform on safety measures and responsibilities of tourists when they visit protected areas. "It is a pleasure to have national and foreign visitors in our protected wilderness areas, but they must be responsible, knowing the existing regulations and respect the park rangers on each of these sites has so that the integrity of the tourist is not endangered, nor of the biodiversity elements protected on each wild area," said the National Parks System in its statement. According to Red Cross statistics, 139 cases of people lost in the mountains were reported last year. During this year, from January to October, 118 cases of missing persons have already been reported. For that reason, specialists make the following recommendations, to avoid people lost in the jungle areas. 1- If you travel with a tour operator or guide, you must verify that he/she has the certifications and permits of the Tourism Institute. 2- When visiting a national park or other destination, be sure to enter by the official accesses. 3- If you are inside a national park, follow the recommendations of the park rangers, properly identified. 4- If you cannot find the official entrance to the park, ask local people to guide you. 5- Perform only the activities allowed to avoid hazards. 6 - Remember to wear appropriate clothing and take other safety implements, to make your trip safer.
