Last week a C-17 military aircraft of the U.S. government transported 39.2 tons of drugs seized in Costa Rica in the last seven months to the state of Florida, for its destruction. The massive cargo was a consolidation of all of Costa Rica’s seized drugs collected during drug operations carried out by the Drug Control Police, the National Coast Guard Service, the Border Police, the Judicial Investigation Agency, among other police forces in Costa Rica. "Our cooperation in the fight against drug trafficking reflects the excellent relationship between Costa Rica and the United States," Gloria Berbena, Chargé d’Affaires of the United States Embassy said. "We admire the excellent work of the Costa Rican security services in the seizure of a record amount of drugs in the last year, as our countries work together to fight drug trafficking and contribute to security in the hemisphere."  According to the United States Embassy, both countries are working on the installation of an incinerator that Costa Rica will use in the future to destroy the seized drugs. However, and until the incinerator is put into operation, the United States collaborates with the destruction of the seized drugs.  Anti-drug operations carried out with the help of the United States Coast Guard are constantly reported by the Ministry of Security. In the most recent case, the U.S. Coast guard helped arrest the crew on suspects of trafficking 1,002 kilos of cocaine. -------------------- What should the government do to stop the drug war?
